New Ratchet & Clank in 2009?

TheSixthAxis: "The Swedish gaming site Level7.nu claims that by finishing Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty, you'll get to see a screen that says the next installment in the Ratchet & Clank series will be released in late 2009. For now, chalk this up as a rumour, but we wouldn't be too surprised if this is true since Insomniac are churning out games like madmen."

Yeah, so they have a 2 year cycle for each of their games. I think as soon as Ratchet and Clank FTOD was completed a small part of the team kept working on the new R&C, and the rest moved on to Resistance 2. Now that Resistance 2 is almost complete the team will start working on Ratchet & Clank properly.

next year insomniac are opening a new, smaller studio. If one studio is churnin out one game a year, this new studio could make that average something like 1 1/2 games a year! =P

Possibly, but I think that it would probably be more of a full title. I think that they might use episodic content for in between fillers and to help give fans a little bit more while they wait. Might end up doing that for Resistance(but thats just a guess)

I dont think it will be a full game. maybe another short game like Booty. Which more Devs need to start doing. Put out short games until the main one is ready to get people wanting more. Most games loose steam from having to wait 2 or 3 years on it and new stuff is coming out.

I like R&C and I would get it for sure, but I'm hoping they have yet a 3rd IP in the works.

Insomniac needs some kind of an award. I've never seen a company of their size so productive. Even companies alot bigger aren't that productive.

i agree. it's the way they develop levels. they don't finish a level and then improve the visuals on it at the same time, they get the whole game up and running, then they iron out the possible problems and alter the layout so that it works well. once the whole game is playable this way, they then go into fine tuning and polishing. this way there is hardly any problem with the running of the game at an early stage and then they can concentrate on making it look good

Insomniac are the best developers out there. Churning out one AAA title every year is not an easy task. They prove that developers who say PS3 is hard to develop for are lazy.

that's a very good question. i believe that the rumoured development team that Sony were supposed to be buying are Insomniac and that part of the deal was to allow Insomniac to split so that Insomniac (or whatever the new team is to be called) can retain a certain amount of freedom... not that Sony don't allow them that already of course

Why milk R&C for like the 15th game, Insomniac are clearly capable of creating new IPs, im mean they did with Resistence and if im correct in thinking Resistence sold a hell of a lot more than R&C PS3 (cant remeber name), they should just let the series rest and make a new game using the same pixar type engine

Hmm... I'm going to get tired of a resistance-ratchet-resistance- ratchet cycle. I want to see a new IP! Resistance was the first current-gen game I played and I thought it was awesome, so come on insomniac, make a new IP because it worked out for you last time! (Come to think of it they _did_ just open up a new studio... hmmm...)

i read somwhwere that the average meta score for xboxlive arcade games is like 65% with a small handfull of good ones
