Confirmed: No Final Fantasy VII Remake Coming

PS Lifestyle: "We have been an update to the information on the Final Fantasy Info. If there will be a "new" PS3 version of Final Fantasy 7, it "WILL NOT" be a remake. I think every true gamer wants their favorite games remade and some don't.

Most remakes ruin the game. I don't think a remake will ever match what once was. I think they should simply try to update the character models within the games themselves.... much like the classic Doom and Quake have had upgrades.

Reworking FF7 with todays graphics would be enormous. I just don't think they could really remake it while preserving everything in the original.

I mean I played the game daily for hours and still, after 6 months... still never really got to everything.

Honestly I think if it comes to PSN/Arcade I'd be happy.

I was not expecting FFVII remake. I've learned over the past 3 years that this is just a rumor... every time.

A possibility for a sequel is pretty interesting though. What I would really love is a FFVII remake from Sephiroth's perspective. Now THAT'S wishful thinking. :D

well the did publish the origianl.

But they havent published any other FFVII spinoff games?

I say BS that sony owns FFVII, but wouldnt be surprized if they do. sony did pump ALOT of money into FFVII back in the day

A quick check to various references says the only thing Sony had was the initial publishing rights in North America and Europe.

Square published it in Japan and Internationally while Eidos had the rights later to publish the Windows based version.

SquareEnix owns the property itself.

Want a remake because they don't have a way to play/own the original without buying it for too much money. If they're going to do work to port it, there's no reason to not devote a little time to upgrading the graphics and audio.

More than anything it's the fact that it's a hard game to come buy cheaply and legally anymore. People just want a chance to go back to it for a not-ridiculous amount of money.

This is a story about Final Fantasy not how great you think the 360 is. Oh and by the way... I am a PS3 owner and in no way do I feel I got the short end of the stick... While you get all excited over the Mii rip offs of Avatars us Sony owners will be just happy with Home. I dont need it now because I will be getting to crate levels with LittleBigPlanet, having fun with friends online with Resistance 2... I mean 60 of my friends in multiplayer... yeah 360 has nothing with that. Oh and a superior version of Bioshock... consider me satisfied.

with Crisis Core setting up Genesis, Advent Children telling us the series isnt threw and Dirge of Cerberus secret ending was there really any real confusion about where the series was going?

Genesis is a bad mofo, bring on FF7-2 I say in all spifftastic graphix on the PS3!

PSW (UK mag) last month did say there 'might' be something after the release of FF 13 - but nothing before.

Personally I'd prefer a remake of FF8 - I'd settle for the origional going up on the PS store.

I wish we could hold to the topic here, but there's too much fanboy flaming all around. Stop that, it's lame with a big L. Of course there will be no ff VII remakes. The VII was/is perfect enough like it is.

And to SuperSaiyan4: I can't see any vids on my xbox 360 in europe. How does that work? some help at a pm please :) And you shouldn't trash the ps 3 just yet. Many good titles this year. And home is gonna be huge man, just takes some time to make it.

In a way this is the better path to take than a remake. I mean messing with the original FF7 is like asking for someone to repaint the Mona Lisa in Photoshop just because it's new and more advanced. I "want" a remake yet a part of me holds my breath when I just imagine them just might screwing it up should do attempt it. With a sequel they have the freedom to explore more crevices of the game and be able to expand rather than try to recreate an already masterpeice of a game.
