Here comes Cloud

So you thought that Square Enix turned their back on Sony in favor of the almighty dollar by making FFXIII multi-platform. Well, fans of the Final Fantasy series may have their prayers answered. FFVII might be making a return to the spotlight with either a remake or a spin-off (like that of Crisis Core). Fans have been begging for this ever since Sony unveiled a tech demo of FFVII at E3 2005. The original may also be making a return by being distributed through PSN and XBLA. These rumors have gained some steam by Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto saying, "You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKS3713 , where we'll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance." The Square Enix DKS3713 Event will be taking place on August 2nd. So, mark the date and check back soon.

I never cared for FF. Nor do I care that it's coming to the 360. Find one time that I was thrilled that FF was coming to the 360. But I will say that the CGI scenes of FF are pretty bad ass like this...

Shane Bettenhousen from 1UP.com said it! It's really just wishful thinking that Square has yet another title in the works. They have yet to release one new FF title on the PS3 or 360 this generation. It would be dumb to start work on yet another title. Of course, this is a company that went bankrupt once and seems to fly in the face of smart business practice.

The comments and actions of SE where to create controversy. What better thing draw as much attention as possible to you then to make a surprise announcement. After getting the interest levels up all eyes are wide open watching and waiting for SE's next big announcement.

Now that SE has this attention they can announce FFXI for the PS3 and people will be there to hear about it. Hopefully this statement isn't a big letdown like so many *just wait* statements given to the press as teasers.

It's really a smart move, SE riding on the FF13 announcement. A wonderful way to lure people into rumors, speculation and controversy. Hook, line and sinker. The bait is set lets see how well the fish bite.
