I just hope Final Fantasy doesn't suffer from the mulitplatform curse, lol. Just look through the history Crash Bandicoot was virtually Sony's mascot for the PlayStation. Spyro the Dragon was another hit for Sony both went multiplatform and lost its popularity.

With the PlayStation 2 it was Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Red Faction, or Virtua Fighter all popular on the Sony's console. Once they were released it lost its popularity and the only one so far that hasn't (lost popularity) is Resident Evil because it hasn't been released yet (Even though it went to Nintendo first with the fourth instalment, their marketing isn't at a mature audience). With Final Fantasy I just hope it doesn't suffer the same fate where it becomes nothing because it's everywhere. It gained popularity because it was exclusive now I just hope it can still go on with its popularity.

It's like Walt Disney Parks and Resorts wouldn't be Walt Disney anymore because everyone has the rides and the excitement as Walt Disney. So popularity wouldn't be as high anymore because Walt Disney is duplicated by another company.

Wrong. Sony is actually in the background laughing at Microsoft because they know they spent way more than it's worth it to get FFXIII. Microsoft will not be profitable from the game sales cause it's published by Square-Enix and it won't be releasing on the 360 until more than a year after than the PS3 version so it won't sell systems either.

Even Sony had to pay Square-Enix but not nearly as much as Microsoft did. They probably spent close to $1 billion total to get the 6 rpgs(LO and BD included). Microsoft bought Rare an american company for almost 400 million. Now for Microsoft to convince a japanese developer for exclusives they would have to pay way more. And Square Enix is a top 5 developer in the industry they aren't cheap. Each FF game cost around $30 million to make. An average rare game takes $10 million tops.

I'm a big RPG fan and I was disappointed at first too with the lack of RPG announcement. However after thinking about it this was a US trade show so they probably localized it by showing more shooters. I think (hope) the next trade show in Japan should have more RPG showings.

It's not really a problem for them. FF's biggest fanbase is still Japan. Not only that but they get first treatment. I know I'll be enjoying the FFXII import on my US PS3 just like I did with MGS4 and GT5P. Thank Sony for region free PS3's.

The problem is that they have to support 3 consoles in one conference. There's a lot of content to fit in just 2 hours. White Knight Story, Valkyria Chronicles, Heavy Rain, The Agency, Wardevil as you mentioned probably won't be released this fiscal year and are still a way off.

Correct. I think MS would have been better off if the FFXIII 360 announcement happened AFTER their press conference. It took away focus from their titles coming out this year. Only thing people want to talk about is FFXIII on the 360. Gears 2 and Fable 2 were shown as well and they are coming THIS year.

And Xbox 360 will never get Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which is coded strictly for PS3 hardware.

and really they don't have to...
They are now all about their own in house studios and creating new exclusive IP's in house. I think they are a bit annoyed with the money bribing and crap. Developers who have a long standing relationship with Sony just allow someone to come by, offer large amounts of cash and whoosh all history is down the drain.

They have good reason to be a bit annoyed. It's all good, I don't think they are really worried at this point. Everyone knows that Microsoft's Conference was bland as all get out!!! No amount of spin or surprises is gonna undo the year they are having thus far. Sony is taking it to them month by month, they know it, we know it, damn even Nintendo knows it and they arent worring about either one of them!! Until the last ten minutes of the conference it was down right pathetic. I knew what was gonna happen as soon as Square Enix took the stage, saw it coming like a run-away freight train. Now they wanna crawl from up from under the rock they were at, and proclaim that Microsoft seemingly killed it at E3...

6 - Sony is not getting Square exclusives

And it does not matter anyway. Between me having FFXIII as exclusive or having FFXIII and more first party games because Sony decided to utilize their resources to bring more content to their own platform instead of preventing it from appearing on others, I prefer the later. Kudos to Sony for not wanting to outbid Microsoft, hell let Microsoft fund so many Japanese projects the way they financed GTA, in the end we get it and we also get lots of new IP from Sony while Microsoft will still be bothered with timed exclusives and new downloadable content which people do not give a sh1t about anyway.

Let Microsoft have Metal Gear, Final Fantasy Versus, and Kingdom Hearts. You make fanboys like Rocko happy, you allow more gamers to enjoy games, and you can have more first party games on your console. Sad thing Mass Effect, Dead Rising, and Infinite Undiscovery were held by Microsoft instead of microsoft actually funding their own first party studios. Oh wait, they do not have 1st party studios anymore.
