Microsoft: Go Ask Konami If 'Metal Gear Solid 4' Is Xbox-Bound

At a briefing ostensibly about Microsoft's new dashboard and community gaming initiatives, the company's director of Xbox 360 product management boasted that fewer and fewer former PlayStation exclusives are remaining PlayStation exclusives.

"We have a white board that lists all of the games people said we'd never get," he told a roomful of reporters. "That list is getting smaller."

1 - Doesn't anybody see what the obvious flaw is with xbox360?
Except the RROD.

They don't create that many first party titles and they steal exclusivity and DLC.

Exclusivity or multiplatform and DLC isn't hurting Sony, it's just hurts the Fanboys.
And how long is Microsoft keep doing this? I mean having an exclusive DLC for FAllOUT 3, which is 100 hours long? Does it help microsoft that much?

The first Party Sony titles will eventually Win people over because they can know the insides of the PS3 and eventually multiplatform games will start taking advantage of that also.

Does anybody actually think that MGS4 and FFX13 is the end to ALL gaming? No. They are lots and lots of titles to determine that. Next-gen is just starting for the ps3.

GTA4 was said to be the same thing and look what happenend. People move on to create better games.

1.2 - Its hard for MS to understand
because they are run by fanboys themselves. This guy, Shane Kim, Arron Greenberg are all fanboys like the x360 fanboys on this site. While Sony is out blazing their own trail of fresh and exciting franchise. Micorsoft have drawn up a list of PS exclusives to poach hehe. You can't get anymore desperate and pathetic like a fanboy than this. The funny thing is they admit it and enjoy it. MS will never be a leader and will always be a follower. The sad thing is they can't see it.

What people don't realize is the amount of developers Sony has purchased. Everyone blames MS but think about the # of developers SOny has aquired. When Sony entered the industry it was very small software wise. Now thru out ther years it has bought tons of devloper, so many in fact it has more studios than Nintendo.

If MS did that, we would be complaining about them buying out the competition.

I'll tell you why the 360 does'nt need that many first party exclusives. It's because Microsoft is making a profit from the 360 hardware and live (even if live is not free it's well worth it since it's the best online gaming network out there).

Also, developers are not stupid, they know that games on the 360 have higher sales numbers than one the ps3.

It's not fanboysim, it's just reality.

Seriously. Whats the point dude?
Us Ps3 owners got Raped today.
I am so pissed I could set both my PS3 and 360 on fire.

Keep games exclusive. I own both consoles, and I want exclusive games. This is like being in a classroom, and Everyone's copying off each other with no teacher watching. How can we know which student knows the subject better?

ucantbanme how true. Fanboys are the biggest hypocrites there are. Just look at all the fanboys that suddenly hate FF when they were all saying it was one of the greatest games of all time a few days ago. Plus MS has actually created a lot of new IP's in the short time they been in gaming. GoW, Forza , Fable, Viva Pinata , Lost Odyssey and of course Halo are just a few of the new Hit IP's they created

All of you fanboys are clowns. The thing is deep down inside 360 fanboys don't really want FFXIII, they are just happy it isn't exclusive to PS3. Big fvkin deal.
PS3 fanboys cry me a fvkin river Square Enix sell out bla bla bla.

Sony has been saying 3rd party exclusives are a thing of the past. Stop looking at exclusives like they are the only games to play.

JUST BECAUSE FFXII WENT MULTIPLAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN NO LONGER PLAY IT ON PS3.

PS3 fanboys are just as pathetic crying over it as the 360 fanboys who are celebrating. Stand at look at the games coming to the PS3 and decide which one interests you more.

Sales wise 360 will receive no gains from this all it does and all that matter to microsoft is that sony won't receive any gains either. GTA4 went multi, DMC4 went multi and everyone screamed PS3 is dead bla bla bla. PS3 is still alive and kicking.

1.11 - Sorry, you're wrong...
Second most serious flaw after the RRoD is simply the fact that not all 360s have hard drives.

Metal Gear is 50gig. Sure you could swap 6 disks, but that's pretty ugly. Plus they have announced that now games will have install on 360s. (Yep, getting FF likely pushed this announcement, because it's pretty big too). I'm sure other devs have told them that they basically had no choices as well.

So I now pity those Arcarde 360 owners. Sure, for now, the install won't be mandatory, but it's only a question of time. A very short time.

Next Microsoft big news? A newer bigger harddrive. The 120gig will be phased out, and a new 320gig will "only" be $200 dollars. (Maybe more, they are so greedy)

I totally agree with you. The only profitable IP that Microsoft has in its first-party arsenal is Halo, and that one IP is not enough to carry them throughout an entire console generation (5 years, at the least). Microsoft does nothing but throw money in third-party developers faces, cross their fingers, and hope that their money will cause some kind of an advantage to the xbox 360.

Sony has so many gamer-valued IP's that Sony alone can cause a significant impact with their games. Honestly. Tomorrow morning cannot come any faster. I don't know for sure (seriously, I'm not Miss Cleo or anything so I can't fortell the future) but I am thinking that Sony's E3 conference tomorrow will bring just as much as an significant impact as FFXIII going to the 360 was to Microsoft.

Sony, this is the time to show all you're cards and act like you are playing to the death.

Man, you clearly have no formal education in business and accounting-related courses. Buying out another multi-billion dollar corporation like Sony involves ALOT MORE than just having the right amount of money to do so. If you're perception of corporate buy-outs was the norm, than Microsoft would have already bought out Yahoo, but look at all the newest business headlines; Microsoft ain't getting Yahoo, and its because of deeper, corporate presentiments.

Don't lecture me about accounting courses when you missed your 2 semesters in English and can't even pick up on sarcasm or rhetoric. I know perfectly well how difficult it is for MS to just simply "buyout" another company. My argument still stands that if MS wants to do it, they could still do it barring the fed.

And btw, if you really read up on the Yahoo MS buyout, you would know that MS isn't really interested in acquiring Yahoo any longer. Steve Ballmer's having field day getting a major stakeholder in Yahoo to dump the Yahoo Board of Directors. All in the name of having things his way.

PS. I do have a minor in Accounting and no accountants typically don't head buyouts, so your point is double moot.

Well I guess you're minor major in accounting cannot possibly compete with my DOUBLE-major in Business and Accounting (Extreme Sarcasm, In case you're dumb-A$$ can't tell) If Microsoft isn't really "interested" in purchasing Yahoo, then why the hell have they been stalking Yahoo for as long as they been (which in case you haven't been keeping track, has been about 3 months). Answer me that question?

"I do have a minor in Accounting and no accountants typically don't head buyouts, so your point is double moot." I do not know where you study Accounting at, Whoopi? but at the University of Southern California; USC, here we are taught that more than an 70% of a corporations board of directors need to approve of a certain corporate's buy-out in order for it to even enter into an exchange buy-out. Accountings need to be directed before a buy-out is approved. In case you're stupidness didin't know, Accounting is actually referred to as the "language of business".

I do not know where you studied accounting at, but I hope it wasn't at some second-rate facility, for you're sake.

Sorry to disappoint you bud, but I went to Johns Hopkins and no Accounting doesn't lead buyouts. I doubled in Biomedical Engineering and Business Admin conc. marketing w/minor in Acctng. Accountants complete the acquisitions but don't initiate them. In fact short of the CFO, nobody in the account department even suggests it. I guess you haven't finished your schooling so don't even get into it with me because you've never conducted a buyout and I have actually worked through one with my company's legal counsel (who incidentally went to USC law). Let's talk about it when you have real world experience. Nobody in the f**king accounting dept deals directly with acquisitions until after most of the foundation's been laid. They analyze, double check, and approve the buyout after the talks are initiated. Then they integrate the merging company's books after. Ie most of the grunt work.

PS I'm so glad i didn't pay the 50,000+/year tuition that you did. Maybe you should've gone into film.

PSS Yes MS wants Yahoo. I can't argue with you there. Last I read was Icahn attempting a coup over Yahoo's board and wanting to sell off portions to MS. Looks like the deal terms have changed and its part and parcel.

1.19 - MS buyout
One last thing. Offhand if MS can afford to buyout Yahoo for $47 billion why are we even having this stupid discussion. Sony is in the same ballpark size wise (44bill?) so MS can easily buy Sony and all its IPs.
My "simplified" statement still stands.

1.23 - I know what sony fans are trying to say
but third party support is what wins console wars, and microsoft is doing a great job of building more and more support. They are even starting to get exclusive games from third parties, some timed and some not. Sony got where they are now based mostly on third party support, and microsoft is slowly stealing that away.

Microsoft creates plenty of first party games. The problem is most gamers could care less about them. Most of them are horrible. They sure wasted a lot of money when they bought Rare. No wonder Nintendo dumped them. What was their last good game?

1.26 - Don't take this the wrong way!
Don't take this the wrong way, but....this is history repeating itself but in reverse. I remember clearly when Sony entered the console war against Sega and nintendo with the PS1,Sony did not get to where it was through innovation ( The sega saturn was a technically superior machine on paper) but through buying exclusives, timed exclusives and just being the well known and respected brand SONY. I still remember when Tomb raider was released, It was groundbreaking at the time and Sony bought the timed exclusive to it, Suddenly the local trade papers were full of Second hand Sega saturns for sale. This was the start of the mighty Sony Playstation era and the beginning of the end of Sega's era. Sony had the money and Sega did not. Whats interesting and relevant now is a case of "what goes around comes around" and Microsoft is playing Sony at it's own game. However I Can't see Sony going the same way as sega but ...things are getting tougher for them because it's not a case of david and goliath anymore...It's goliath against goliath!

I find it a just a tad tactless to specifically hunt out other consoles exclusives and make them multi-platform, but I guess they gotta do everything they can to make less of a point to buy a (PS3/Wii) when people can get the same experience on the 360.
