It's all about money. This has nothing to do with loyalty, or Square betraying Sony, or any of that crap.

360 leads PS3 in the Western world.

For any game, it makes financial sense to release a game on the 360 as well as the PS3, as long as the following equation is true:

If X > Y, then Z

Where
X = Predicted profit from 360 sales
Y = cost of porting from PS3 to 360
Z = create 360 version of game

Why do you think there's no 360 version of FF13 in Japan? The cost probably doesn't justify the potential for profit, which, given the 360 user base in Japan, is pretty damn small.

Last generation and the generation before that, Sony so dominated its competition that releasing Final Fantasy for any other console just didn't make financial sense.

This generation, things are a LOT different for Sony. And 3rd party companies are going to realize that.

Like everyone said I think it really comes down for Sqaure-Enix trying to make money and are hoping to capitalize on the install base in NA and Europe hence why Japan for the 360 will won't see it.

How I hope the FFVII remake will be announced tomorrow, I think thats what a lot of fans really want and that would soften the blow a bit.

Doesn't matter how Sony spins this, but they just got their ass handed to them by MS with the FF news.

Come to think of it, I'm starting to think that Sony has known about this for awhile as on the recent commercials that Sony was showing, only exclusive games were shown. At the time I thought it to be weird that FF13 wasn't in it. I think the games that were show in the commercial was LBP, MGS 4 and GT5 Prologue? Makes you think what else Sony knows?

Interesting they will launch Japan PS3 version first then start localisation for US and Europe for the Ps3 versions at that time they will start 360 development for US and europe, so it will be a few months after the ps3 version is out before the ported 360 version hits interesting

Ya I posted this somewhere else, but it belongs here.

This is kind of funny to me because most 360 gamers in the US are very anti-JRPG. They like Oblivion and such but not so much Final Fantasy. I would think M$ would want the game in Japan to GREATLY boost sales, but I guess Squenix just saw that as a lost cause. Even the mighty Final Fantasy cant save the 360 in Japan lol.

Just like MGS did bad on the Xbox, this game will be no different. I guess Squenix needs to learn the hard way.

No one is going to buy this game for the 360. well not to many people. 360 owners play fps games. Geez all the 360 owners in japan are going to be pissed off because they wont get this game.. lol that sucks.. this game will only sell well in japan and on the ps3..

I would just be pissed that square is going to limit what they can do with the game because of the 360 hardware.. I guess you just have to buy the versus final fantasy..

The only loyal person is Hideo for keeping MGS4 exclusive to the ps3.. I rather have this game than anything out there..

Yeah Im a sony fanboy, Man that announcement sucked, Now I know how the hd fanboys felt when wb went exclusive lol, Yeah we still get to play the game but just the fact that I paid $599 for a system and a company I supported since ps1 to play their game on when I could have paid $200. What makes it even worse is all the lies about yeah you can only do this and that on ps3 when I have seen every company that said that about their game make them look identical on the other system if not better. That was a surprising blow because I thought they were going to announce mgs4 coming to the system not this lol, but now that square made this announcement I know for sure at next e3 they will mgs4 substance lol. All the games they announce tomorrow can not make up for this blow, not even ff7 when its just a remake of a gmae we just played and a game that now I know they can put on the box if they wanted what a crock of lies the cell processor aint !#@!

Wonder how long of a delay there will be getting it ported over to the 360? It could be nearly a year after the Japan release before they localize and port it. Might be looking at 2010 before that happens and might even have the next XBox waiting in the wings.

Who fricken cares? I know a lot of fanboys get their panties in a bunch over 3rd party exclusives but I just want great games I can play on my PS3. The Final Fantasy series is my favorite and I will buy this game day one, no questions asked. I hope it sells well on the 360 also because if it sells really well for both consoles, guess what... they'll make more games. Sounds like a win/win situation right there.

what with cr*p games, where outshining you on all the better rated games like

burnout (where gettin better support from developers), cod4 (way better framerate, and online didnt lag), gta (no pop ins!!, and oline works fine!!), devil may cry (our loads screen where wat half a second)

ohhhh and memory isnt a problem for me as i just upgraded to a 200gb :D so bring on the installs!!! and destroy load screens!!!
