Metal Gear Online GENE Expansion Details

Metal Gear Online Community official website is now updated with the latest info on 'GENE' expansion pack that includes new maps, characters, and game mode. Details as following:

* The much awaited 'Metal Gear Online Expansion' is now available. DO NOT miss this opportunity to become a part of the evolution that is MGO. Throw yourself onto new and unconquered Maps. Make use of a whole new set of gimmicks and Characters. Why not try out the awesome new game mode 'Survival'.
* At the same time, we will be opening the 'Reward Shop' for business. Get you character some new gear by earning Reward Points in the game.
* But that's not all. The 'Metal Gear Online Expansion Plus' comes with all of the above plus 1 MGO Extra Character Slot. If you were looking to create another Character, then this is a great opportunity.

From Japanese official website for Metal Gear Online, it is confirmed that GENE expansion will be released on July 17th, 2008.

Yup. The map Urban Ultimatum is an updated version of the most popular map on the original MGO, City Under Siege. CC will be the second MGO1 map to be brought over to MGO.

What are the odds that the download stuff is for the most part just unlocked items that are already on that huge Bluray disk of a game? Sucks to pay to unlock something... but hey, that's marketing.

Hmm? I though the new map gonna be "Shadow Mosses"/"Mei-Ling Battle Ship"/"Outer Heaven" and the addition contain is to allow us to create female character.

It's not asking too much. We should have gotten all this stuff in the release build.

Why release a great game, when you can release a great GIMPED game. Then of course a month later, charge for the rest of your game.

Most of the time this isn't the case, but it's extremely obvious when it comes to MGO2.

If this expansion pack comes with a price tag, I will be officially boycotting MGO2.

Why should we have to pay for features that were promised in the release build?

-3 new maps? Try 3 withheld maps, one of which is a remake...
-Ability to play as story characters... yeah MGO1 was KNOWN for this.
-Survival Mode. Ah here it is... I was wondering when they would complete MGO2. Before this mode, once you picked clothing, that was it. No do-overs.
-Extra character slot! If you decide to make a girl avatar! Incentive!?

Again, if they end up charging for the second half of the game they didn't feel like sharing... I WILL BE PISSED.

Some might be new to some or old to others. But just thought I post this for you guys.

Maintenance will be conducted on 2008.07.15 at 0:00 JST to 2:00 JST.

Championship Tournament will begin on 2008.07.16.

Stand Alone MGO Game goes on Sale 2,118Yen (About $20 USD)

Expansion will include 1 (one) FREE extra character slot.

New Game mode "Survival" added.

Gain Reward points by playing survival and other modes.
Use Reward points towards new gear for your character.

Women gender now present and available to choose.

Soldier Canon has newly added special effect.

UPDATE:
Scratch that pricing, but it was close.

Famitsu reports MGO will be sold at ¥1,800 (About $17.00)

Play Asia has listed the price for MGO at $ 19.90 USD

23 - Letter to KONAMI!
The letter i wrote to konami!!

I am writting this on behalf of thousands of angry South Africans.This is complaint that we cannot purchase extra characters slot & stuff from MGO shop....now with the up coming expansion pack "How are we going to get that?"

We all going to return our MGS4 copy for full refund if this problem is not sorted.Not trying to funny but its frustrating if it says:error..if your country is listed below"You won't be able purchase goods.

I also think it will not look good for konami if we demanded our money back(few thousand complaints)> > What im about to ask u is no joke:I want Hideo Kojima himself to e-mail me mangelboy@hotmail.com about this problem.(its long shot..but anythings possible)...knowing Mr Kojima is a"Perfectionist"...w hy did he fail when it came to the online mode?Thought the world was equal when it comes to gaming (not just europe,usa & japan)

Wake up! and bring us the goods to the PSN STORE!
