Soul Calibur IV sales higher on PS3 than Xbox 360

Advanced orders for Namco Bandai Inc.'s Soul Calibur IV are higher on Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 than Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 based on pre-sale data from Amazon.com.

In the figures, Soul Calibur IV PS3 Premium Edition held the largest share of sales at 52 percent, followed by the standard edition at 20 percent.

Meanwhile, the Soul Calibur IV Xbox 360 standard edition held 18 percent of sales, while the Premium Edition yielded 10 percent of overall sales.

The $79.99 Premium Edition will include an exclusive comic/art book that is a prequel to the latest entry, a tournament kit, and a bonus redemption card that unlocks extra customization content.

This is for Japan, so of course the PS3 is going to win.
I would like to see how these numbers actually are worldwide. I clearly see more people buying the PS3 version because of Vader.

i personally don't care which system it sells the most for. i'm getting it on my PS3 because of my preference for Dualshock 3 over the 360 controller. Vader is just an added bonus (though Kratos would've made a world of difference)

This doesn't mean anything sometimes before certain games are released the ps3 may seem to come out on top in preorder sales but as it gets close to the release date the ps3's install base just can't keep up with the 360's, that's what happen with GTA4. Even though the ps3 has Darth Vader we should still expect the 360 version to sell more or I just might be under estimating Darth Vader.

Actually this isn't Japan this is US. Yes this is just amazon and it doesn't portray the whole picture but still that is not normal. PS3 still has 1/2 the install base of 360 in US yet they can take a significant lead in pre sales off amazon???

I am confused. It could be 360 sucks for fighters, or 360 owners only loving shooters. Or ps3 owners just shop on amazon more. Whatever it is, i am surprised

when you think starwars you think Vader. LOL!!! it's an interesting marketing ploy really. everyone may like Yoda because he rarely ever fights but. It's downright all about vader. they call the PS3 darkside anyway because it's black. and Vaders face is clearly on the cover. also. the 360 is white and green using the white for light and the green for the color of light saber. it's just neat.

I just hope both get marketed alot. I'm certainly going to be getting this game. Playing online will be great.

I do think Vader probably has a bit more of a draw than Yoda... however, for me it's about the controller. I personally think the PS3's is more suited to fighters. This game should be great on both though!

Tekken is different from Soul Calibur. Soul Calibur feels more arcadey and "button mashee". I prefer Tekken but they're both good. I'll probably get disagrees, but whatever. I got to express my opinion.

T6 and SC IV both bring new things to there series. T6 has Item moves for 1. SC IV has destructable armor for 1.

2 they both have new characters.

3 they both further the story of there universe. Though Fighting games are not always driven by story for many its just about combat.

I would of been pissed if they never came out with a sequal to Tekken, Soul Edge, and Street fighter. If the sequals don't play generally like the original its a travesty.

If it were a different game they would not name it SC IV what were you expecting...

SF4 isn't coming out this year. And why does it have to be Tekken fanboys and not faithful, or followers, or dedicated?

I am getting them all the fighters when they come out MK vs DC, SC4, SF4 and Tekken 6. I am hoping the fighter genre makes a come back. Hopefully they will all have decent online capabilities. That would definitely help.

20 - I consider Sony's console ideal for fighting games...

I don't like how the directional-pad is designed on the XBOX 360 controller. Even if the game is better on the XBOX 360 I can't always execute moves that way I want to. Not sure if others have the same problem even just for navigation can be frustrating.

I want to get the premium version.......but having a hard time deciding for what console. Naturally I want to get the 360 version because of Live......but I prefer the shirt that comes with the ps3 version. Also...I am not to concerned about Vadar missing from the 360 version......because I feel like his "secret apprentice" will bring the same feel of Vadar to the 360.....while adding Yoda.
