I'm just disappointed when they wave things in our face like this, like oooooh see what cool "summer" house we got :( Yeah its cool and everything but wouldn't it be cooler if your consumers (who have been ever so understanding of all the delays) could get their hands on it. I mean how many times have we've been told about "oh the open beta its coming soon, I mean before you know it summer will be over, we're practically half done with it already.

Not bashing but i am not impressed.

The pictures look plain and empty. Example, the fourth picture i think with the couch.... Lot's of empty floor there and just plain looking.

But i have never been one to understand this 'Home' concept. Just seems too Sim'ish. I want a game system not some Sim crap. Also reminds me a lot of the houses in Test Drive Unlimited for some reason.

Do you realize how stupid that sound when you immediately bash it after that sentence? Give me a break. If you can't see that the visuals look great and can't appreciate how hard Sony is trying to please their fanbase then maybe you can come up with some better ideas, instead of just hating.

Just some machine that don't play games? SOme of the best games coming out are on the console!

The cool thing about HOME will be the integration of games into the home space.

The game launching will rule, the game spaces will be awesome, and the overall atmosphere is cool.

There are plenty of cool things to do in HOME and trust me I HATE the sims. There are tons of possibilities, only one of which is the social community.

Well, an interactive world where you can meet with Avatars of your friends and meet in a visual setting and express emotion about a game or plan strategy or Watch movie trailers or watch your own media through a built in theatre room or share your music with others or improve the quality of your gaming experience in general isn't for everyone.

So like menu's and non personal conversation, some like to have a visual of those menus and add personality to the gaming environment.

To each his own.

I definitely agree. What's not to like about HOME? It's free, it's optional, it's not required to play games.

People act as if once HOME comes out, no games will ever come out. Why cant they see that the future direction will have both integrated to work with one another if the User wants to utilize it.

How exactly is this a 'new' Home space? We've seen videos of this space on YouTube for a couple of months at least.
It'll be nice to see how well this works out. Seeing as Google got a press-run on Lively yesterday, it seems the idea is catching on...

11 - Even though this is the same location we saw..
A year and a half ago at GDC, the amount of progress is staggering. The avatars actually look (and move) like real people. There's subtle creases in the faces, soft cloth (that probably wrinkles, a la Uncharted), and a realistic lighting system that goes far beyond what most videogames are currently achieving.

It's going to difficult for most PSN users to avoid this application, simply because of how enticing it looks. Kaz Hirai's decision to push the beta release to Fall 2008 was definitely wise; they have the time (and now the manpower) to make this the ultimate community for gamers.

Anyone know how much Hard drive space this will require? I've never heard any mention of this? Am I justified in this concern? I'll get a bigger drive eventually but some people aren't even aware that you can upgrade the hdd.
