Siren: Blood Curse Priced and Dated

Sony Europe is announcing that Siren: Blood Curse has received a release date and a price. The episodic content game represents the reinvention of a successful PlayStation 2 survival horror title for the PlayStation 3.

Because of the episodic nature of the game, it will be split up into four chapters, each consisting of three distinct episodes. The first will be available for download from the PlayStation Store on July 24 and will cost 9.99 dollars. Each of the other three chapters will be similarly priced while the full game can be yours for 39.99 dollars.

In the previous games in the series players had to confront a being known as the Datatsushi which entered the physical realm and turned the residents of a village into zombie-like creatures. The aim of the Datasushi was to get them to build a physical body that would allow it to control the world, although the game ended with the non-corporeal being banished from the physical realm. Now the village will again witness a confrontation between good and evil.

Got the demo finally, and it was awesome.

Really really impressed, I loved the art direction, BUT, i hate the controls still. Very weird to contol.

SO I will porbabaly only buy it once it comes out on a hard copy.

Has anybody realized how insanely cheap this game is? Pretty good deal I must say.

EDIT: Whoops it wasn't suppose to be a reply

The game was impressive, but the controller is kinda weird. It will take some time getting used to.

yeah, its on the japanese store...there are tutorials everywhere, takes just a couple of minutes...

the controls...thats my only complaint...the right stick moves the camera, but its pretty limited...but worse, even after you turn the sensitivity to 'very low', it still is very very touchy...

the tutorials are in Japanese, so I have no idea what they say...but most of the menus are in English, as well as objectives...as well as all of the dialogue (except the possesed people screaming at you)...so its playable...

creepiest game I have played in years...takes me all the way back to Resident Evil 1, or Silent Hill 1, both for the PS1...games usually are not this scary anymore...

That's a good question, although I doubt anyone knows yet, seeing how it's just a Japanese demo. Although if it did have trophies, I dare anyone to beat me to the download of this game :)

I doubt :(

Sony would have said something if it did. It's a first party game and they did list all the first party games that would release with Trophy support for the rest of the year, unfortunately Siren was not there.

5 - Is this just EU?
Or will there be a similar release date in NA? I have a EU account but I've never tried to buy anything on it, that's why I'm curious.

Very nicely priced only 40 bucks that's pretty cheep. Hopefully it has trophies. I am curious when the waves of games with trophy support will start coming in. I understand completly that some of the old titles will not get support and even some of the games that are released very soon, but I would hope that in a month or 2 all games wether they are 1st or 3rd party titles will have them, I mean the 360 has them so I would't think it would be all that hard to transfer that over to the PS3 versions.

That's pretty cheap. Maybe I'll download it instead of importing it. Saving $20. It's coming out pretty soon.

I think that I'll be buying Siren once a Blu-ray copy is released. I remember playing the Siren demo on the PS2 years ago and remember be scared as hell while playing it, but I never bought the Siren PS2 game. $39.99 for a game like Siren is a no brainer.

Anyone else notice the massive spoiler in the article? I mean this one is a remake of the first one, so giving away he ending might not have been a great idea.

The words from the creator was "new translation" in Japanese, it just got translated into "remake" before the title was released.
It's not a remake, rather the reason for them to say that is part one and part two exist in different worlds, and New-Translation exists in the world and village of part one.
On all the Japanese sites previewing this game clearly says the game is not a remake and is not a sequel.
I played the first one so I can kinda guess what's going on here, but the whole point of the game is to gather pieces of information and put them together yourself anyway, there could be many interpretations for the first and second game.

So the game will be released on the PSN only and not in stores?
If that's the case, then I'm really going to have to upgrade my HDD. With all this game installs, add-ons, updates and HOME in the near future, I will run out of space in no time.

12 - I hear it comes on a disc in Japan only but...
That it will come with several language translations included. Is there any truth to that? If so, it would be worth the import.
