damn you bethesdsa, comparing your game to the original series, sure Fallout 3 has more lines of dialogue than Fallout, but does that make it better? Ammo has zero weight? this is just a little thing but I mean c'mon, thats not cool, being able to have like 10,000 rounds of ammo on you is not that cool, and if this is a true fallout sequel why the hell would I need that much ammo anyway? oh and I'm scared when he says random encounters, like what? you mean enemies will spawn based on your location, or enemies will appear in front of you? oh and character creation I don't care about unless theres online, why should I care what my character looks like unless someone else but me is seeing it, but aside form my fanboy complaints, screens look good, and at least these guys know a bit about Fallout.

It sounds like you're just LOOKING for stuff to complain about. Being able to customize your character's appearance is a negative now? Ammo not counting towards the weight limit is simply a nonissue; there probably are ammo count limits anyway, just not based on weight.

1.2 - well, see
my complaints arrive from the loss of freedom, like if they put a cap on ammo, thats stupid, or me not being able to kill important NPC's and children, also stupid, seeing as the children if Fallout 1-2 were annoying as hell, see this bothers me because if NPCs can't be killed then that mean's when you talk to them they trigger an event, meaning you have to follow a set path to get to your destination, this is stupid, if you replay fallout you can beat the game under a half an hour if you know where to go, this fallout game is just gonna give you the illusion of freedom instead of actually giving you freedom, if I want to talk to nobody and explore on my own and find whatever it is I'm searching for, then I should be able to, I don't want to follow some quest, and like original fallout there should be different ways you can find out about the object your searching for. well anyway I'm still looking forward to this game don't get me wrong, but unless it blows me away completely I'm just going to dismiss it as Bethesda ruining another PC franchise while reaching out to consoles.
edit: I have nothing wrong with character creation, just without online it's pointless and also if it's anything like oblivion you create a character that you think looks alright at the start but regret you made him throughout the rest of the game, I'm just saying instead of making customization just give me set people, oh and also you can still play as a woman right? just wondering all the screens have guys and for the 3 or 4 female fallout fans out there that might dissapoint.

I am so looking forward to this game! Day one purchase for me.

I hope this is coming in 08, could be another repeat for GOTY for Bethesda.

Is this game first person or third person (like RE 5?)

I hate first person RPGs and while Oblivion was awesome, I couldnt stand the view.

I believe it's supposed to be both, like Oblivion but the third person view is actually usable this time.

Awesome. The third person view in oblivion was useless. Trust me, I tried.

4.3 - I agree
The third person perspective looks much better in these new screenshots. Before the ones they showed off looked pretty bad to tell the truth (like really bad) but these screen looks much better. Can't wait for the game to come out. Environment looks more gritty as well instead of just the destitute look.

4.4 - I can see
Where you guys is coming from. It's like if they announced that Dues Ex 3 would have unified ammo and that you couldn't kill important characters yourself (i would hate both idea's). I can now see where you guys are coming from. For you it's a formula that's damn there perfect and all you need to do is through in different graphics, update the story and add a bit more variety and the sequel is done.

Sounds cool. I've never played a fallout game or Oblivion but I'm willing to give this a try. I'm just hoping it doesn't suck too much of my life away. :P

Failure begins pretty much from the beginning:
No Child Killer: Todd says they can't sell their game and they didn't like it and blah blah. Idiots, Fallout 2 had it and only the truly evil characters would do it which was part of the game's freedom.

Some non-killable NPCs: WTF!? One of the main streights of original Fallout was that EVERYONE could be killed and the game could go on...
Perks at EVERY level: WTF!???
Traits are now PERKS!?: WTF22!?!??!
Removed "that feature" because it was too complex / hard...: Congratulations on creating Oblivion: Shivering Fallout Fans.

Can't wait for Brahmin Armor pack for $200 as DLC...

Again, I lost hope in Fallout 3. Hopefully I'll gain it back with E3 showing but it has to be really spectacular.

Noooo you have to think positive ...its gonna be awesome.

Then again I never played the original or the second one so I have nothing to compare it to.

7.2 - see thats the problem
While the game is gonna be good, fallout fans like me and MK here are gonna be dissapointed, sure the game may look great to you, but to the oldschool fans it's all these little things they changed that bring the game down, like non killable children and important NPC's, yeah, nuff said If I know they're not supposed to die then I'll protect them, but when I know for a fact they can't be killed it just get's rid of my freedom, I have other gripes but I'm too lazy and just read the first post. While my hopes for this game were up recently after reading this interview, they were kicked down many notches. Congrats Bethesdsa on making a game everyone will think is amazing except for us Fallout fans, I remember when Oblivion came out and everybody was ranting about how good it was, then months later opinions changed and people saw what a hollow shell Oblivion was.

" nuff said If I know they're not supposed to die then I'll protect them, but when I know for a fact they can't be killed ..."

I think you missed this part:

" But we're careful not to overpower them, so for them to survive, you need to manage them a bit. You'll want to give them stimpaks to heal, and better weapons, etc."

So yes, they can die, you just can't kill them yourself.

The problem with making a game to please only the Fallout fans is that the game simply would not be as successful since it wouldn't appeal to the more mainstream gamer. If you look at Oblivion, it had great sales (I believe) and it was made to be more streamlined compared to Morrowind so they're definitely going to try and repeat that with Fallout 3. So, sorry MK. Isn't there an unofficial Fallout 3 game being worked on though by people in the community?

xionpunk, I try to stay positive but this interview was really disappointing. At least Todd was honest though.

mepsipax, as always spot on. Truly agree my friend.

Gorgon, what mepsipax said is about children and important NPCs. They won't die. Children because they're children and Bethesda is a p**** (Though I can understand that they don't want an AO) and important NPC won't die because it will break the game (Just like Morrowind where killing important NPCs brought a message saying you killed an important character and can't continue the story.
What you read in the interview is about the companion who can be killed by the player.

HeroOfCows, you have valid points. Oblivion indeed sold well and was well recieved by non-ElderScrolls fans and casual gamers but I personally hated it. It was a good game but felt like an insult to a fan of Morrowind and Daggerfall.
Same goes to Fallout 3 but at least Bethesda is not the original dev so I can give them a free pass to some degree. That's why Fallout 3 is my most anticipated game of E3 after all of this.

Funny, I didn't know that Hispanic was a race. Is that a "US-only" race or aomething? And what is an "African American"? Someone with double nationality? You guys in the US crack me up.

I'm loving this game already!

In the US, Hispanic is pretty much a nice way of saying Mexican. Yes it applies to many peoples in Central and South America, but really, it's just Mexicans. No hates please!

No hates, man, I just find it funny. But I guess stereotyping people like that doesn't really fall too well this side of the pond at least. I also think that black american people probably (at least I wouldn't) find it too funny beying called an African American, since they weren't born in Africa in the first place. Anyway, thanks for the reply.
