Mortal Kombat vs DC To Be Rated Teen

Ripten's Jon Christensen writes:

"About a week ago we received the news that Mortal Kombat vs. DC was in fact going to have Fatalities. While this remains the case, in a interview with with Gametrailers.com Ed Boon stated that he may at some point be interested in publishing another M rated Mortal Kombat game in the future.

"…I also wouldn't rule out doing another M rated Mortal Kombat game."

That pretty much guarantees that this next installment of the MK universe will be rated teen. Some of you might be asking "how can the game include fatalities if it's rated T?" The answer is simple– they will likely tame them. "

Mortal Kombat is probably one of the main reasons ESRB's rating system existed in the first place, if this story is true, then they'd better make up for the downgrade, still have hope for this one, even though it's quite bleak.

I didn't expect this, but it doesn't surprise me. DC Comics wants kids to play the game with their characters in it.

It would be nice if there could be two versions though.

Like I said before, a T-rated Mortal Kombat is a game I will not buy. There will be better T-rated fighting games available in the near future. Mortal Kombat is meant to be M-rated.

Thanx for thinking about us Mortal Kombat fans Midway. Great way to sh!t on your dwindling fanbase and ruin a once critically acclaimed franchise. I almost scared to ask what they will do next.

When MK first came out, it was different from other games because of the blood and gore (not to mention the kick @ss fighting), this is Mk identity there mark, when people seen you ripping some guys head of they went 'oh look mortal kombat sweet!', but i ponder why the hell are they taking away the one thing that made the series so great, your meant to go forwards not backwards. I have a feeling that there going to sell out as i believe they haven't been doing so well financially, lowering the rating of there games so its open to more people in this case teenagers. (not that they couldn't get 18+ games anyway..) So i say this, go screw yourselves midway you bloody sellouts! sorry went on bit off rant there lol.

How the hell can you tame fatalities. Even the word fatality implies massive gore. Thats like GTA game where the gangsters don't swear.

WTF!? This is not news. The T rating for MK vs DC was confirmed 2 or 3 months ago when the game was announced, every preview confirmed it (Including GameSpot) and on the last GTTV, they even talked about T rating as a fact and questioned about the fatalities.
