Rumor: MGO New Download Contents Info

Starting 7/17 in Japan, there will be a new expansion pack available for download for Metal Gear Online.

The pack will be 1200 yen (or a 1500 yen pack which will give you one new character slot), and it will include:

- Johnny and Meryl will be added.
- Now able to make Female Characters.
- 3 new stages including Shadow Moses, Mei Ling's Ship, and MGS1 Heliport.
- Official Survival Mode added.

Also starting 7/4, two new rules will be added:

-Team Scanning (Teams will split into Sneaking and Defending, Sneaking team will be able to use Stealth ability)
-Head-shot Only Kills (Optional Rule)

The info came from the latest issue of Famitsu, and posted on a Japanese PS3 forum that I've been going to for over a year. They don't make up stupid stuff like people do here in US.
No scan so this is under "rumor", but might as well be legit.

agreed. WAY too many headshots, its one of the reasons i stopped playing. I literally counted 12 headshots a row.

plus, the inclusion of auto-aim is absolutely ridiculous and quite honestly cheapens the experience. if you're not good enough to aim in first person or over the shoulder then you should put down the sixaxis and go play wii.

No, no, headshot only rule is, when you kill a character without a headshot, you blow up (at least you blew up on MGO1) and the character you kill doesnt get a death to his count, but instead you get a death to your count. It is pretty cool.

Ache, I sort of expected there to be some free content. I'm not complaining about $12 for a few maps and some extra characters, as well as some significant gameplay augmentations. I just don't want to see metal gear online turn into a money extraction scheme like Horse Armour and Ninja Gaiden Costumes. And it's true, most people nowdays online are going for headshots, and honestly at times they seem rather random and cheap. As well, is it me or is there significant bullet lag at times, frustrating also. Good news nonetheless for the update, hopefully it's real.

The 2 new rules starting 7/4 are free at least.
Also I dunno about MGO but in MGS4 the weapons actually tried to mimic the different ballistics of their real gun counterparts. Some weapons the bullet will travel slower and some faster.

Just last night i grabbed a guy with CQC,and just as i was cutting his throat,He magically headshots me..then turns and around
and tea-bags me..it's like...wtf..i already killed him and he headshots me..BS!

It does have some bad bullet lag at times. Sometimes you have a few seconds to still shoot after you've been killed.

I think this is the whole point, I bet metal gear online is mostly finished. It was originally going to ship separately and carry its own hefty price tag. I guess the goal here was to entice players for a bit and then make them shell out the cash for the "real" meat and potatoes of it all. Now all they have to do is keep releasing updates and charging for them.

One problem I had with beta was the inability to make a female character( and no one seemed to care).
im glad its coming.

though this will cost me R111? Are you mad... no way in hell would i pay that, this better be bloody cheaper then that.

but what we really need is the ability to have a 2nd costume for our characters...

yep this pretty much sucks. were gonna have to buy a new character slot just to use the new characters in the pack.. not to mention start over with 0 kills and no skills. right now im lvl 4 with only 4 hours playtime. :)

hm.... mgs1 heliport? im pretty shure that isnt a good map to play online in... its just a big open enviornment with no cover. i really wish they gave us a downloadable chapter 4 pack where it deletes the robots and gives us real soldiers. just like mgs1, the robots completely killed the feeling i got like i was playing it 10 years ago.
