Might use it once though I prefer using my laptop since it is always on.
But it might be a nice future, though I wonder what their news sources will be if they want to provide regional news.

I would also like a calculator on my ps3 would also be handy lol

i really like the globe idea..

im not a big fan of the news, seeing as 90% of the time they just update me on when a teenager gets stabbed on the streets or a soldier dies in Iraq

i think Sony should expand on that idea... how about clicking on someone in your friends list and it zooming in on their position on the globe?

Nice Idea, but its not for me, I wake up about 2hrs before work, put world news on my TV and play MP on the PS3 as I am watching, all these services are good in theory but in practice a no go, I play games mainly and you cant do both. Its like PlayTV, I was so gonna buy it until I found out that when you are recording you can not play games on the PS3, whats the point in that.

basically what this seems to imply is that by the end of next year sony and MS will both have identical services, except one will be free. no im not dissing ms or xbox live here either, as xbox live helped pave the way for online gaming in the console arena. and kudos to them for that, but...

however if sony does continue to deliver on these promises like is currently trying so hard to do. than one could just simply say that the ps3 is the system of all systems come fall of next year.

why? well its reliable thats one, its got wifi, blutooth, its a blu ray player, its got an HDMI, and all come fully equipped with hard drives.. and if rumors are to be true than by October all ps3 skus will than once again will all have BC with ps2 software via firmware and than there is blu ray on the go via psp copy, we cant forget this is also in the works as we speak and set for the fall.

as far as the psn goes... well? 2.40 is around the corner and along with it are some neat features such as trophies and in-game xmb access, which if you ask me is basically what most people really need.

but knowing sony this wont be enough. personally with things like home, the video renting service, the web browser and a set of improvements set to come for it and those features you can say there really isn't too much difference between the psn and xbox live now, unless of course you want to sit there and nip pick features in which im pretty sure with some begging and demand sony will be force to bring over to the psn as well, just like it happen with rumble and so many other things before it.

now while all these features sound great, all i want now from sony personally. is a few minor features and set of improvements and for that i will make a small list. hopefully you all don't mind this wall of text.

1. voice/video mail.
2.cross chat (cant go on without this)
3. flash support and more speed for the browser.
4. search engine in ps store( that would be nice to have)
5. time/date/ weather via ps button press, )this might not be a needed feature but its convenient to have specially if your playing hours before you are set to go out somewhere)
6. more psone classics on the ps store, specially 3rd party psone ips strider, contra, final fantasy 7,8 ect.
7. ps2 games for distribution on the ps store( this way those without BC can enjoy in the action as well. plus it would make the psn that much better if you ask me.
8. pre-loaded thumbnails/images on the ps store.
9. music & tv shows store( i mean if any company has the power to this its sony they own one of the biggest tv and music production studios on the planet so yeah the rights shouldn't be much of a problem.)
10. double or triple the friends list count, asap.
11. a more in depth profile system, like what games you play most favorite genre, when last seen online, what type of gamer you are, your accomplishments thus far ect.
12. 4/6way voice/video chat, yeah i know danm,....

but if sony is able to tackle these set of features down by the end of next year.... than one could say the psn and xbox live are the same in pretty much every aspect of the equation. and.. from the looks of things, sony is heading in that direction. some of you may agreed and some might not but this is just my personal opinion.

this life stuff is good news to my ear either way so.. sony is doing a lot these days you can say. and thats good keep up the good work sony.

If only they would spend time delivering what people really want, that being games (on time and within 6 months of the scheduled delivery date) instead of a "news reports" telling everyone how well they are doing. Ms dont need to copy this, its about as interesting as watching the washing machine go round. As for copying, how is your new dual shock pad? and how is the trophies coming along?

News,Movies,Games,Internet etc... All these options are PERFECT for an central Hub of information and entertainment. I don't even bother watching TV anymore, there is nothing good on. This just allows me to further enjoy the Playstation Lifestyle.

Games will come guys. They always do. Its always a matter of Time. And with Trophies I'm sure everyone will become a whore of a collector. :)

The PS3 is gonna evolve much further then any other device out, watch it happen and enjoy. :)
