"The PLAYSTATION®Network will be taken offline during the following times for a scheduled maintenance:
Starting on June 24, 2008, at 8:00 a.m., Pacific Time
Ending on June 24, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., Pacific Time

During this time, access to the PLAYSTATION Network will be restricted, including:

* No access to the PLAYSTATION®Store
* No access to play online games on the PLAYSTATION Network"

The playstation store was down when they revamped the mess out of it.

But I also don't recall the whole network being down..I'll be at work as well, so when I get home, it won't affect me. Then again, I'd probably still be playing through MGS4 again. God I love that game.

While I'm not so positive this is the 2.40 update, the possibility of that being what it is, has me stoked! And the fact that Noel Silvia implied it was really close yesterday is only getting my hopes even higher!

I'm hopeful for fw 2.40, but why would a firmware update require the whole thing to be taken down. I don't recall anytime a firmware required the service be taken down for maintenance.

i would think trophy and ingame would need an interface to be added. so taking whole network down would be needed to integrate and stabilize psn. so that ppl dont run around making threads like "oh my god dont update so so so update just bricked my ps3"

I'm not going to get my hopes up though. It's coming soon, that's good enough for me right now. I've been almost 2 years without it, another couple of weeks won't hurt.

The last and "only" time Sony shut us down prior to this was due to the PSN facelift. I think this is somehow relative to 2.40 but who knows.

like people said, the playstation network has never ever been down since it was launched, the only time it was down was when they updated the firmware for the new playstation store, so this could mean something. Plus when it was down only the store was down, not the online games. I dont think the online games servers have ever been down.

The last time the entire PSN was actually down was on November 6th. I remember when I first came home with my newly bought Call of Duty 4 around 10:30am, I couldnt sign in the PSN so I started to freak out because I wanted to play COD4 online badly. I called up some of my friends and they said they couldnt log in too. After calling them, I went on playstation.com and it said that PSN was down... It was only down for a hour or two so thats probably why people didnt mention about that time.

I remember that day like yesterday

anyway yeah, i REALLY HOPE that the update will come out tomorrow
(been waiting since after i downloaded v2.00 and had no in game XMB)
