Charts reveal slowing PSN release schedule

PS3 Fanboy: "Does it feel like the PSN is providing us with less digitally distributed games than before? It does to us, and it appears that the feeling is not unwarranted. Gamasutra compiled a few charts, analyzing the PSN, and revealed that the PS3 is offering far less playable content before. 2007 offered 17 PS1 games for download and 28 downloadable titles, which included classics like Super Stardust HD and Everyday Shooter. To date, the first half of 2008 has only featured 4 PS1 games and 8 downloadable games for the PS3 (two of which are multiplatform Capcom releases)."

1 - Chart also shows...
a more even distribution of titles since the new year and a more even split on platforms.

I would expect that it will rise but in conjunction with the idea of a more even release schedule and more support for the PSP as well as the PS3

It does. I don't think that's a bad thing, especially for a lot of us that want older games like ChronoTrigger.

However, the breakdown is artificial, as anyone who looks at the chart for more than two seconds could see.

2007
50 titles over - 12months = 4.17 games per month
Keep in mind that May - 7 PS3 titles, 10 ps1

take May's 17 down to the average of 4 and it becomes 3.08 per month that most people were seeing when they logged into PSN.

2008
24 titles over - 6 month = 4 games per month, with much more even distribution as JoeIR said.

It's sad that sites will go for flames without even using slightly solid logic.

The worst you could spin this is .17 less per month or 1.02 game(s) less over the 6 months of 2008.
