A Brand New Low: PS3's Gundam Scores 2/10 from 1up

Just when you thought the launch reviews couldn't get worse for the PS3, 1up chimes in with their review of Mobile Suit Gundam: 2/10.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire doesn't just fail to be "next gen," it is barely last gen. The game is an embarrassment to the Gundam name, and raises suspicions that it was rushed for the PS3 launch. Clearly, the series -- and the fans -- deserve better.

1.2 - Blame Sony, not the publishers.

I get the impression that the publishers are being forced to release games that they would rather finish off and release when ready. After all, they'd rather sell a game when they think is complete and when there are more consoles to sell for.

Perhaps Sony paid them off to release at launch?
Might explain why so many of the games are so poor. Well done to the RFOM guys, look forward to a good followup.

A lot of 360 fans in here eh? lol cool! PS3 has some nice hardware but for next gen gaming its not needed, you just need a better cpu, gpu and more ram. A new medium is technically not needed as has and is being proven by the 360. I wonder if Gundam chicken WING uses the CELL processor and the blu-ray disc to its full potential...

18 - A matter of taste?

The Japanese magazine Famitsu gave this game an 80% score. I think IGN is scoring it less as a game and more as a comparison to what they think next-gen should be. Doesn't really matter though the Gundam series has never really translated well to games

Uh, re-read the article man, not IGN, 1up.com.

I don't take 1up's reviews to be very impartial. However, a 2/10 is never a good sign for a game.

Just to give a comparison to quell the fanboy fights:

The 360 was released with 18 launch titles (within 1 month of launch). Based on IGN's reviews of these titles, the average score was 7.8.

The PS3 currently has 11 titles reviewed by IGN, with an average score of 7.78.

And the Wii currently has 7 titles reviewed by IGN, with an average score of 7.84.

Whining and throwing scores in each other's faces means nothing. On average all of the systems are seeing the same general launch ratings. There are always a few good, and many bad.

Once again...I said months ago what would happen once the reviews would start rolling in. I feel no sorrow for the sony extreme fanboys that kept showing cg screen shots and kept saying...."you thinking the screen shots are cg is the ultimate compliment". Ha ha ha ha ha....Every single ps3 game thus far have recieved very very sad scores and the only thing that saved Resistance from getting 8's and 7's across the board is the 40 player multiplayer that none of the reviewers have even played yet. WOW. My advice to gamers who want a true next gen video game system....go buy the 360 with a free game from Best buy or walmart...or go to the stores that offer the 100 dollar rebate for both the core and premium system. You will get highly rated next gen games. And lots of them. And more to come soon exclusive to CONSOLES.

Last year the Sony fanboys dogged the 360's launch lineup and said how great the PS3's was going to be. Well, now they are back tracking and saying "Hey, this is what we expect from launch games." - This statement is actually true, but Sony fanboys just need to eat their crow and be quiet.

The average of the 12 games reviewed for the ps3 is 7. With Resistance being the highest rated game for the ps3 at launch. Which is lower than a few of the 360 launch games that launched a year ago. WOW
