Japanese retailer describes what Afrika actually is.

Japanese retailer Game Star has put up a description of the game, which finally ends the confusion gamers have had over what the purpose of Afrika is.

The translated description states that you are a photographer, who takes photo's of the animals using Jeeps, Hot Air Ballons and more to get the perfect photo's.

While this isn't 100% conformation until we hear word from Sony, it does appear that the game will as expected be not to dissimalar to N64 title Pokemon Snap or Nintendo Wii title Endless Ocean.

This game is rumored for a 2008 release in Japan, with no plans currently to bring it to europe.

I'll buy it when it's cheap. I kinda liked Pokemon Snap (don't care how sad that is). And this game looks very relaxing. Not to mention that the graphics are awsome.

WHat about Pokemon Snap? I dont know if you were old enough, or too old to like Pokemon so I really can't say anything. All I can say is that I'm 16 now and I am having a BLAST with Pokemon Snap. Lol, I'm playing it on my old 64 recently. If Afrika is anything like that, it's a definite buy. But I doubt it.

Right now I'd like a hunting game for PS3. You know, I've never seen a hunting game that takes place in Africa or something before. The most "diverse" hunting game I've played was some game that came with Deer Hunter 2 for PC. It was a demo where you hunted dinosaurs, and it was a blast to play.

I loved Pokemon Snap, always thought there was so much more potential in the idea. It'll be really interesting to see if they pick up on stuff like teasing the animals, throwing them food, getting them across to certain areas and stuff in this game.

I feel sorry for people dismissing this software (I wont call it a game) because there aren't any guns in it. Doesn't anyone run that fishscreen saver on their bigscreen and just relax in front of it while reading or something. Or has everyone forgotten Flow already?

Of course there will be interactivity with this too. I dont think animals are just going to stand there posing for photos. Getting great shot will probably be quite challenging.

Besides, its a PSN game, lower the high bar of expectation a bit and you might enjoy it.

like someone said, on a more casual (for a lack of a better word) gameplay. one can compare it to pokemon, but dont forget the power of the ps3..

the graphics alone can make it worth it to take that snapshot.

the trailer has played on many websites and even in youtube quality people are amazed by it.

i'm staying hopeful that this could be a really good title.

I think this game may prove to be a great addition to the PS3 library. Apart from the upcoming Buzz, there is absolutely no reason for my partner to play games on the PS3. I may be a hardcore gamer but I welcome quality titles that appeal to the casual gamer market..most of us do have at least a girlfriend, wife or younger siblings who they would like to see enjoying the system. Besides the more time my girl spends playing the PS3 the more I can justify our purchase of that 48" LCD television I hog all day! :-)
