Would You Pay For Home?

Qore sounds cool, but there's a few unanswered questions, especially over the presence of betas and demos being included in that particular month's 'issue'. Sure, it's only a few dollars, but if this is the precendence that Sony are adopting TheSixthAxis are not entirely confident it's the best way forward.

So, with that in mind, would you pay the $2.99 to get your hands on the Home beta a little earlier?

not my future, sorry. Granted, this will be fun a different, but not it is not my idea of the future of online gaming on consoles. And home is an advertising portal, not a paying service, imho.

Would I? Depends... Will I? No, because it's free. Will I purchase a new "space" and "additional features"? yes.

3 - I seriously
doubt that they will charge for demos. Maybe they will give acess to 1st party ones early or let people into betas but I doubt that they will try to keep demos from us if we aren't signed up.

I don't mind Sony charging for extras but to use it, I'd say no. I'd much rather Sony used advertisements to help pay for Home instead of making user pay for it.

Like anything else, it depends on the value offered. It also depends on the amount of ads.

Add in the right stuff and a monthly fee would be completely worth it. Basic walkaround, decorate your room and look at ads/chat? No way.

12 - Someone has already said it
but i will say it again. I don't want it for free and would never pay for it. If i want to play the sims then i will go buy the sims.

edit: Yes i know Home and the Sims aren't the same. But people compare stuff that isn't the same all the time on here, so why not home and the sims.

Every time someone uses Home and The Sims in the same sentence, it just shows how little of Home they understand.

I am what I guess you would call a compulsive spender. If Sony / developers just include a stack of micro-transactions, they'll make a small fortune out of me.

*EDIT*
Because it's wrong?

sims = $50. Home beta early = $2.99?

How can you compare the two? Its less then a sub that you eat in 2minutes. some people make me laugh.

and thats exactly what they are doing. they don't need our money for this. can you imagine how much advertising there is going to be in HOME.

they are going to be able to get that much advertising because they offer this for free to the users.

I don't think I'd pay to get it early. I don't think I'd pay for it period, I'm really looking forward to it though. Advertising portal, no need for us to pay for the basic service. I am going to buy some add ons however. But a one time fee like the article asks.... Sure, Gas is 4.10... if I spend 2.99 on home and it keeps me from driving to the park one time, I'm made my money back.

When this rolls out, Sony will love people like me. I have gaming bucks set aside for just such an occasion. Those who are paying for xbox live are doing it already.

No. I'm really waiting for Home, but as a free application... it has to be completely free (that was the promise). I wouldn't pay for a beta.... not cause of lacking of money, only cause it's not something i was expecting (so i still hope it comes out this year and completely FREE)

Although I don't think the price is even close to too much to pay for something like Home, it's always been PROMISED as a free service.

I think Sony needs to work on keeping its promises and not making promises that it cannot keep.

There's the ethics behind the whole thing I think we need to think about. They need to be up front with us and not just tell us what we want to hear. That's a politician's job.

31 - HOME is NOT = to Qore
This article is blatantly misleading... Qore has nothing to do with HOME. Qore is an episodic show, it DOESN'T require a monthly fee, it requires A FEE to watch an episode of the show. How hard is it to understand and comprehend simple written English?

It doesn't matter if people misunderstood the article or not really.

If Mr.Sony happens to see that gamers might be more than happy to pay for Home, Mr.Sony just might start rethinking a little promise he made.
