Race Driver GRID Better Than Demo

GRID's Executive Producer has spoken on the Codemasters forums regarding the PS3 version, and the improvements we can expect next week compared to the recent demo version.

The first improvement is that each and every frame is now v-synced, for a rock solid display with no tearing. Secondly the PS3 frame rate is 30fps, 99% of the time, which is great news.

Thirdly, there was no 'lead' platform - each version of the game had dedicated teams to get the most out of each of them - and finally the retail PS3 version has some extra performance improvements since the demo as they were tuning the game right to the last minute. In addition, the developers also have some further improvements lined up in a patch that should be out soon after release.

its the same engine they used on Dirt, it is going to be really good on PS3, since its the same engine that uses Sony's Cross-platform engine, dont believe me, look it up, hence why Dirt was superior on PS3 even though it was a port, which technically was not

awful game. you nudge something and go into 720 degree spins and there is only 45 cars in the whole game.

6 - Dirt was not superior on PS3
Sorry it was washed out, blurry and no way as sharp or detailed as the 360 version, I tried out both side by side.

I love it when PS fans mention every game that looks worse on the PS3 to be better looking than the 360 version you know what I would love to do is get all of you people with your strange eyes that you have line you all up and flick the screens between these games and ask you which one is better and I bet all the money in the world that each one you will keep picking the 360 version.

Even though the devs themselves admitted that the PS3 version was better?

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/20...

""looks fantastic compared to the 360." He further explains that the framerate is better, that there is full support for all the PS2 steering wheels, and that they now have full uncompressed 7.1 surround sound -- something 'the 360 didn't allow us to do.'"

Plus no screentearing too.

do your reserch when you say the game wasnt superior on the PS3, the game was using Sony's Cross-platform Engine, AKA, the Phyre engine.

Sorry but I am gonna have to disaggre with you there, my friend who owns a 360 and I (who own a PS3) both liked the game and we played them on both platforms and neither of us saw any difference if anything, we though the game was a little bit sharper on the PS3. There certainly werent any washed out colors.

6.4 - I like how you don't mention the framerate.
The PS3 version had the smoothest framerate.

6.5 - actually super saiyan is right although there is more to it then that.
The devs delayed the Ps3 version of dirt due to it not being at an equal level to the 360 counterpart and it came out 4-5 months after the 360 version.

The framerate did not dip as much as the 360 version although the diff is slight. They acheived this due to an install onto the hardrive but this was still not enough so they removed parts of the scenery from the background to give it a smooth frame rate.

This was probably done due to the lack of ram of the ps3 due to the size os in cp to the 360. It is probably also why GTA4 was downgraded in resolution and Grid looks noticably better on the 360.

The devs will say whatever they need to make sure you Ps3 fans will pick it up hence this message.

After a 5-6mth delay do you really think there gonna say its not the better version?...

The 360 version has more scenary is sharper and colours more crisp but the frame rate does dip a bit more although as i said not significantly different.

:) But whatever you guys want to believe is fine with me. I personally after dirt and the GRID cp will be getting the 360 version.

You actually bring up Grid as an example? And Rockstar's first PS3 game that was a 360 port? It's really all trade offs. PS3 version has less details or tress but a better, smoother framerate with 7.1 surround sound. 360 has a sharper picture but the framerate isn't as smooth. Perfect example of trade offs. Which one would you rather have? Slightly, barely noticeable more detail or smoother gameplay? And are you really going to stop your car and look at the trees in the background? Doubt it. I think anyone who actually plans on playing the game would go with a smoother framerate.

Yes, I believe as you progress in you're status for the full version GRID that the physics along with the performance is going to slightly improve, it ain't gonna be GranTurismo-good just will get better.

It's a must-buy for me as well, just because this game offers for the very first time a different and fantastic array of racecars and tracks I still have to see in other games of this genre ( excluding PC ) - like the Koenigsegg, Audi R10 LMP1, next-gen Chevy Camaro, Dodge Challenger --- tracks - LeMans, J-Speed circuit...

I didn't bother with the PS3 demo, but i was pretty happy with the 360 demo. I don't remember any frame rate drops or screen tearing? However i played mostly online. So its 360 version for me as all my mates are on Live and i was happy with the way the game looked and performed on 360, Im a "billy no mates" on PSN :( sniff.

I downloaded it on both fomats but play on the 360 version more for the same reason. Im my friends are on 360 and its so much easier setting up races than on the ps3. Its annoying in some ways because some games i prefer on the ps3 but the lobby systems/friend invites etc are poorly done compared to the 360's and don't get me started on voice chat. So 360 version for me although i would like it to boost my ps3 collection. For God's sake Sony sort out the online.

I was surprised at the PC version.
It was actually really well optimized.

I guess this is what happens when you put effort into developing a game.
