Haze Community Dev: Reviews are 'opinion of only one person'

After Rob Yescombe of Free Radical stated "MEGAowch" in response to IGN's 4.5/10 review of Haze, the Community Developer at ubi.com is again urging gamers to judge the game for themselves.

I thought lair was a good game as well.
I think this game is getting bombed in reviews becuase those reviewrs know they screwed up so bad in GTA reviews and want to restore some of their credability.
i played the demo and personally did not think its worth a 9 but its definitely worth more than a 7.
I guess UBI has to learn about the game of reviewing and how to bribe those suckers from Take 2 and Microsoft.

what did they 'screw up' with the GTA reviews?...them saying how superior the PS3 version is, and then giving the 360 version the same score?...who cares...the 360 is the delicate flower of this generation...its the system that no media source has the balls to insult...there is no credibility to be restored in that regard...the 360 will be nurtured until its replaced, even if it does go down in flames...

im not sure but why is it so bad to get mostly 7 and 6's from reviewers. yeah there's a couple of 4's but why is haze getting attention with haze. plus i always tell myself its only one person's opinion when i myself buy a new bad game.

i feel so bad for radical, no wonder they were delaying and delaying.

they picked a bad concept, thought it was good, they stuck with it, and it turned out to be a generic piece of crap. Shame. Real shame!

...release a PS3 exclusive that looks like any other console could have pulled it off is a wasted opportunity. Exclusives are supposed to make those who own the other console wet their pants with jealousy. All Haze does is make them pat themselves on the back for a choice well made.

I can accept a cross platform game being just ok but exclusives should be a showcase for the hardware they are built to run on.

Well said Close Second. Exclusives is supposed to be what the console offers that the other one cannot theoretically achieve. If the 360 and PS3 had every single game multiplatform with no exclusives, then people would just be more confused which console to buy. It's fact that exclusives is the main driver for hardware sales. And unfortunately Haze plays out more like a poorly made port instead of hardware pushing exclusive.

I'm more disappointed at the fact they chose the 1024x576 resolution. They could have at least went 1280x720 given the amount of things NOT going on the screen at once.

that as a developer you should know if you have a crappy game in your hands.
I think that they never got off to a good start and eventually had to release the game with all this unblanaced stuff.

No you gotta let others make your decision for ya man! I mean this game is obviously worse than Ironman, Conflict and Turok ya know. 4 on visuals tells ya everything because you know this looks nothing alike

BTW Im not defending this game, because I never expected anything special out of HAZE. But I find it amazing how exaggerated things were twisted in multiple reviews an how blind some people get because of this. This game is obviously focused more on multiplayer and unlike IGN's review on Halo (where they focused more on the multiplayer side)
they picked at every single little detail in HAZE to make it seem like one of the worst games this gen and barely touched the multiplayer side beyond co-op. Especially on the graphics department, where this game looks better than 3/4 of the things done on Unreal Endine 3 (since thats about one of the only engines used these days.) What saddens me is that many people arent even going to bother to see if this game is that bad at all, or if its really a good game. Disagree all you want, you know I just made sense.

If you spent two years on what you yourself would consider a piece of art. Then release your baby into the harsh and horrible world, only for people to shun it and call it ugly- you'd be feeling pretty crappy too!

since its release,,,HS2 is in development as we speak(by ready at dawn dev team)

seriously, if i had the money and resources and a solid team, i don't see myself playing through a crap game thinking its good.

but then again, i guess i've been paying so much attention to what these reviewers like and don't like being on site for so long that i just know what will be good and bad concepts.

the n4g community(the smart ones) would probably be pretty good at making games.........

Despite haze, I am still happy with my ps3 purchase. The games I am interested in are generally developed by Japanese companies, and since the 360 isn't boding well in japan, I doubt that there would be many future releases in comparison to the ps3 in the genre I like.

My yute.....what does a bad review for Haze have to do with warranting a 360 purchase? 360 has better and more FPS games, but also has more bad ones. Yardies support technological advances always. We don't look backwards. Haze might not be good, neither was a "few" 360 FPS games. Leave it like it should be. Haze didn't turn out good, so lets look forward to the next line up of fortcoming games!

That's pretty much what Turok scored and I loved Turok's campaign. I hated the MP, but it's obvious Haze has better MP than Turok (or atleast co-op) so I think I'll be happy!

16 - you know, i can't rank on Haze
Monster Hunter for ps2 was given the cold shoulder as well review wise here in the states, but it turned out to be my most played game on ps2 ever.

so i definitely went against the norm, and found a fun game. apparently one that MILLIONS of japanese players enjoy as well (who knew).

i guess the difference with monster hunter and Haze was that...well, you can't compare MH to anything else when it came out.

the closest game you could compare MH's 4 player online co-op monster mash-a-thon would be Phantasy star online, but that came out on dreamcast years before. and by the time the distraught PSU came out, everyone had already been hooked on MH for psp.

with Haze, it had the unfortunate luck of
a) being released exclusively on a console not peculiar for FPS
b) being in a genre where other more popular, and arguably more advanced in mechanics, will have overshadowed it.
c) so close to MGS4.

the game did have SOME hype regardless of what fanboys want to deny. first, it was made by free radical. FR was composed of the people behind goldeneye, timesplitters, perfect dark. these guys didn't just make FPS, they redefined the genre. then Haze was used as ps3 exclusive token by many a people here to justify the lateness of big hitters for PS3 back in 06-07. a LOT of people are not happy, not just FR.
