'Metal Gear' Series To Continue After 'Metal Gear Solid 4' - MTV Multiplayer

"Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" is finished, announced series creator Hideo Kojima at Konami's press conference in San Francisco last week.

The last adventure of Solid Snake is almost ready for gamers. It's been a long time coming - more than four years of development - but on June 12, "MGS4? will finally become a reality on PlayStation 3s worldwide.

Fans can stop worrying, though; this isn't the last "Metal Gear," explained associate producer Ryan Payton in an interview with MTV Multiplayer. "I think there's been some misconceptions that this is the last 'Metal Gear,'" said Payton. "This is really just the last chapter of the saga of the Solid Snake story."

As much as I'd like to see Raiden take over after Snake undoubtedly dies in MGS4, I don't think it's gonna happen. I think the battle between Raiden and Vamp is going to take the life of both the two, thus leading to the demise of Raiden as well as Snake in MGS4.

I agree with you that Raiden's chances of continuing the series is slim to none, but I don't think he will die. Olga had said Raiden's life was tracked and her child, Sunny's life depended on him staying alive.

Metal Gear is the story of Solid Snake.

The last chapter of the Solid Snake story is the last chapter of the Metal Gear story as far as I'm concerned.

Well... While I am quite sure that the Solid Snake saga won't be matched, I'll still give another Metal Gear a try. Maybe they can create a new saga that can stand on it's own.

just as i expected

MG is a big franchise, why kill it?

Sony needs it, Konami needs it, but most importantly- we gamers love it and want it to continue

i hope Koj finds it in his heart to continue the series himself, but if not- i guess it's ok, the groundwork had been laid

it will just lack that Kojima comedy and genius is all- unless someone even crazier takes the helm :)

i'm all for more metal gear just as long as they don't turn the core of the game into crap i can see myself playing another metal gear without solid snake (i just love my sneaking that's all =D) but hey kojima needs to be involved in the game he's the man!

People like to put it like "i knew it" or "so this is not the finish? Was Kojima lying to me?"

But the reality is Kojima always said that this MGS, would be the last MG "SOLID", but not really the last METAL GEAR.

They made it clear thousand times, even if it isn't clear if Kojima will be responsible for the next one and even if yes, in which point. But that a next Metal Gear will someday come? Well, in that we don't need anymore clearance, this article was completely not necessary, to people argue over milking franchises (like it was some news... I play MG since MSX).
