PALGN: SOCOM: Confrontation Preview - Get tactical all over again

PALGN writes: "A new trend has formed over the last few months on the PlayStation 3, where full games are available for purchase and download off of the PlayStation Network, with the same game also available on a Blu-ray Disc that can be bought at your local games retailer. Warhawk started the trend back in September 2007, and the recently released Gran Turismo 5: Prologue did the same. Obviously Sony thinks they're onto a winner here with this strategy, and more titles in the future are going to be released both online and on disc, including the upcoming tactical shooter from the popular SOCOM franchise, SOCOM: Confrontation.

SOCOM has been around for a very long time, and was one of the first shooters to be taken online on a console when it was released on the PS2 many years ago. Keeping the trend as a multiplayer experience, SOCOM: Confrontation will be online only, and offers specific clan options that haven't been seen previously in online shooters. For example, you'll be able to 'recruit' squad members online, and will have the ability to promote or demote members in an effort to try and have the strongest clan possible. There will also be regular tournaments so that you can compete with others around the world to try and prove whose clan is the most effective."

1 - Nice....!!!!
I am definitely excited about this game. Going to pick it up day one!!!

However I am little disappointed with the player physics I've seen in the videos. Also the graphics are good but nothing great for a next-gen game.

I think the implementation of Sixaxis is the best done so far. Also the realistic radio chat/listen feature.

Also I'm hoping for some wicked weapon customization options

1.1 - I agree
I wish they would just make it 8 vs 8 and smaller maps like socom2. I rather have better graphics and physics than 16 vs 16.
