Probably because it's easily regarded as one of the best UI's (user Interface) out there.
Simple, elegant, effective....

is it me, or has a lot of companies jumped on the new now fashionable iphone-like human-surface interaction?
Not that I have a problem with it. But... They really make me feel unsatisfied with the stuff I already have all the time >.> .
You can't win can you, when it comes to technology that is...

The XMB interface is probably the best looking and easiest to use GUI out there. It has some class to it - luxury sort of.
BTW didn't we already see Phil Harrison demo an Ericsson phone with XMB and Home connectivity? That pretty much confirms it.

3.1 - Phil Harrison...
...didn't really demo a full XMB. It was more like a menu that allowed you to send stuff from your phone to your Home space.
e.g. sending a picture to a frame on the wall of your Home apartment whilst you're on the move.
This is the first video indicating a full XMB interface for Sony Ericsson phones...

Actually this is pretty old news
Sir Howard Stringer stated almost 2 years ago that all Sony product going forward would eventually be using an unified interface.
why post old news?
