I love the guys at free radical, but I am expecting some more mediocre reviews.

The lack of 4 player split-screen put me off & I was expecting a longer campaign.

Anyone know if you can access the vehicles in the multiplayer modes like deathmatch or team deathmatch etc..? Personal opinion - the demo was pretty good...I guess I am not a graphics whore like some of the other people that didnt give this game a chance. 576p or 770p I cant tell the difference. I need something else because GTA was just awful IMO.

Hey Kid - when you watch the Gametrailers preview, they say there are vehicles in the multiplayer maps. FOR SURE there is one on that giant arms carrier rumbling through the jungle map.

reviews ive ever trusted have been from the AU opsm. although i havent read them for a long time, they were always accurate. They got me onto the original MGS, ff7, Gran Turismo. Alot of the games that you need to play for a few hours before you realise how good they are. If they give haze a 9 here well... im not sure actually. Im getting it anyway :D

Kind of funny, when the initial previews came out, I heard the guy from FreeRadical said that the game will take around 15 hours to complete, then few weeks ago that number fell down to 12 and now it is 8-10 hours.
Also, initially they said that there will be bots in multiplayer, nopes no more bots. So this game has some major feature cuts.

...but trust me, the length of the single-player experience is not a big deal.

Why?

One - you can play it all through again in co-op mode with a mate, or up to four people online (and the experience changes each time)

Two - it's as emotional an experience as CoD4, so you don't want it to go on too long or you'll miss a lot of the impact of the story.

...isn't 1,000 pages of story. It is the story, all the associated game text, all the content for the various websites and any other supporting marketing and promo material.

Because FRD chose to have one person (Rob Yescombe) manage all the scripting during development, they've ensured everything to do with the game has a common message, look and feel - a good move if you ask me.

Not sure where you're pulling your info from, but bots are still fully present in the game. Check Q31 of this thread http://forums.ubi.com/eve/f...

Also, the devs never stated a length for the game. Previewers were the ones who assumed the length based on how long a level was they previewed.

I don't know what they have been doing but the game demo wasn't really impressive, the voice acting was horrible and the animation system really needed alot of work. The shooting was ok, but after playing so many shooters, it wasn't really something that I could say wow. I had a feeling of meh.... after playing the demo. But thats just me. Its my honest opinion, I do not criticize alot but still the game didn't live upto the promises.

7 - Day one purchase for me.
See you guys on the co-op and MP. Single player is only 10 hours long... Hmmmm... Not bad for me. I am interested in the co-op more anyway and a little MP gameplay will go a long way, espcially if it's Free Radical.

Haven't people realize nearly every game is 10 hours these days. And thats on normal. Big Deal.

Plus I think the demo did more bad than good. People were underwhelmed but the demo didn't show the story, the rebels side of gameplay, it didn't give you time to get sucked it by the immersion of having no loading, no vehicles. In short, nearly all the strong points of this game weren't shown ion the demo. What it did show, is solid framerate good controls and nice graphics without being fantastic. The thing Free Radical are know for. None of their games ever looked fantastic but they always were smooth with good controls.

Played through the demo on co-op with my housemate and I personally really enjoyed it. It was fun, the gunplay was interesting and nectar was a break from the norm. But with this being Free Radical, i can't help but being disheartened at the lack of 4 player split, no bots on multiplayer and the lack of multiplayer modes. There was just something special about an all monkey killathon on Virus mode back in the day of the Time Splitters series. Ah well, will probably still pick this up, but I'm a bit skint at the moment and MGS is out less than 3 weeks after it.

I see that the multiplayer team-assualt plays like Team Fortress 2: what map you're in is the game you play. I don't mind that at all actually. I think that's what I'll be playing more than anything Haze has to offer.

8-10 hour campaign? Longer than Gears "5 hours" of War and Halo 3 (seriously, 7 hours single player). That's also longer than Call of Duty 4 which only took me 6 hours to complete on both the normal and hard difficulties.

This was a good, informative article and lol@ Double D over at Free Radical planting himself into Haze so obviously. Hilarious!
