Haze Demo Has In-Game Friends List

Watchful reader StevieK08 has alerted us to the fact that the new Haze Demo has an in games friend list. To see it, get to the main menu, hit triangle once, triangle a second time, and voila!, up pops the friends list. We have not had a chance to verify but Steve attached a screen shot that appears to confirm his story. If you have the demo, please give it a try and let us know. Thanks!

Good news if it is true. I have not downloaded the demo. Now all games for the PS3 need to have this feature and XMB.

LOL, disagrees. Then not all games should have in-game XMB. N4G, should have a nickname called D4G. Disagree for (real) Gamers.

Do you know why the 360 has in gmae option? Because the DEVs had to include says M$, If they didn't Live wounldn't be the way it is. If Sony made their DEVs do it you wouldn't have anything to say. I believe thats why you don't have in game XMB the DEVs have to put it in not Sony. So all game that will come out on the PS3 will get this feature. By the way thats the only thing seperating the two systems, once the PS3 get this feature downpack the CONSOLE-WAR will be OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ CViper

"Yeah. Sony concentrated on hardware quality and stability first."

Ah... That's why the new 40GB PS3's have problems with dying BluRay diodes and overheating problems. Because Sony had to cut the costs to get the PS3 from 600 to 400 bucks and... Lower the quality???

Wrong. Stop making excuses for PSN being such a last gen online system. PS3 just seems to be more like a PC (installing games for 25 minutes and 5GB a game) and its seperate game servers then the 360.

@ Nykamari

IF PSN ever gets it. Sony is talking about it for ages, but its almost like then can't get it done because it takes so long.

And do you think that MS has been sitting on its hands waiting for Sony to implement the future and do nothing? Dude, I bet they have multiple new functions to add when PSN is about to 'match' XBL, which it clearly can't already and will never do so.

You get what you pay for. Like I said. Its just sad this article is news, one game having an ingame friendlist... MEH

Eh, laser diodes dying and overheating?

That's the 360 you're thinking of.

The PS3 has minor problems and can't over heat because when the temperature gets too high the thermostat (which the 360 lacks) shuts the console down and won't let it switch back on until the console cools down and the blu-ray laser failures are within the 1-3%, but are publicised because some people need to find some major fault with the PS3.

So, yeah, stop spreading lies and just accept you're wrong.

Lost Planet had an in-game friends list, too. Even Lair let you send messages while in-game. This is hardly what I'd consider newsworthy.

see that where your wrong. MS doesnt MAKE the devs add friends list to all games. because for one the friends list is built into XBL. therefore all devs have to worry about is getting the game running. not separate friends lists (PSN) an not setting up expensive servers for their games(PSN) most PS3 games, the devs have to worry about online servers, friends list, voice chat ect. on the 360 all they have to worry about is getting the game finish.( oh an space, NO BLU RAY) other than that more time is actually spend on THE GAME!!

And that's why Xbox Live is a lot laggier than PSN

I'd take dedicated servers that don't cost me anything over paying for no dedicated servers any day.

10 - The bluray laser diodes issues is within the 1 to 3 percent failure rate...but
I believe the problem could be a dirty bluray laser lense...we need the Maxell bluray laser lense cleaner to come out...this might save a few PS3 effected...

11 - More like in-menu friends list
So far Burnout is the only game I've played where you can pause it anytime you want, in multi- or single-player modes, and access the friends list. Although Haze's (and many others) sort of implementation beats nothing, I won't be happy with it until I can send and receive a message at any point in the game, not just at predetermined menu screens.

@ Piratethom

"Eh, laser diodes dying and overheating?". Yes, since the 40GB PS3.

In The Netherlands, many consumers united online. I have a connection with the transport company that sends the broken PS3's back to Sony, which declared that 600 PS3's a DAY only for the Netherlands (which is a small, small country) are going back to Sony. And that especially the 40GB model is represented in those batches.

It even was on TV overhere. Remember: the same program also called out MS over its scratching DVD drives (the Toshiba/Samsung drive it was). So it works both ways. Legit source for sure. Links to article, forum with united customers etc.:

Yeah, and the site who said that 40% of PS3s were defective retracted the claim a few days later.

"Then, this morning, Gamed itself issued a full retraction. "Yesterday we published a report that the Belgian chain Game Mania had recovered a large number of faulty PS3 40GB it had sold to customers," read the article. "Today we got the report that this information is not correct. According to Sony and Game Mania the report was based on an unfortunate coincidence of circumstances and was totally not representative [of PS3 sales]. Thusly, both parties asked us to retract this report."

Sounds to me like a faulty batch, if any were faulty at all.

Not to mention, 600 a day is just an outright fabrication, especially considering they weren't even sending that many 360's back a day in the UK.

Tom wrong again. The Belgium story is a whole different one.

If you can read Dutch, you can see those numbers are growing over time. No batch, its a common problem from the time that the 40GB model was introduced.

How do you think a 200 Euro pricecut from 600 to 400 Euro was reached? Not by only cutting some USB ports. Internal, the system has been built with cheaper parts/production processes.

The 40GB PS3 stops reading discs after a while. And that 600 PS3's a day isn't fabrication. I know the person that is working on the central distribution centre and these numbers are counted daily.
