it looks like slant six has fixed the jumping now it feels like the old socoms, now im curious about the weapons balance between the commandos and mercenaries

game looks great, should be a blast...It's just I think the Player physics are horrendous. The players after they get shot die in a totally unconvincing way. The bodies dont seem to be placed on the ground properly (bodies seem to float after death)..Also, the physics while he jumped into the water was just unacceptable for a next gen game...

Anyway, I seem to have big expectations from this game...Will definitely buy it even though they dont fix these bugs...

Oh and one more thing, it would be nice to see some nice player animations for while falling in the water, getting hit by bullets, blown away by explosions etc, etc..

im still playing the newer socom. i cant get enough of it. i really cant wait for this 1 to come out. ive been waiting forever. looks like a big improvement, this is their first appearence on the ps3 so i am going to cut them some slack for this is not socom 4 this is for an online feel on the nex gen and for them to get use to the developement, and it is said their will be the classic view

Looks really fun. Cant wait to buy it with a headset. I think the animations were perfectly acceptable and the water effects were pretty good.

8.2 - Tweaker is right
The gameplay completely trumps COD4's arcade formula. When someone gets 15 kills in Socom, it's usually skill w/ a gun. I can get get 15 kills sometimes in COD4 w/ one hand. Shoot 1 person, grenade few others, call in air strikes/chopper and voila - 15 kill streak. AND completely noobish. Then, even after you actually win the contest, an AMerican Idol wannabe sings about his "vaunted" kill streak in the lobby and how he got another 5 kills from "last man" and "martyrdom" (sp) perks. COD4 was/is a great game for casual fans to get into military shooters. But placing it on a pedestal and using it as a benchmark for all future games in the genre is severely misguided.

I think this looks like a lot of fun, but are there no cover dynamics? He seems to be running rather robotically around most of it. Love the level design and look. He mentions clans...does that mean you have to be part of a multiplayer super-online commando squad or can you still just jump in as a 'casual' player and not have everyone jump down your throat? I've never played a SOCOM game, so forgive my ignorance...

yea you dont have to join a clan, its there free if you choose, people join clans cause their either good together, of they get along and have fun playing with eachother. cover dynamics- you get behind your cover, then you have a tilt system where you use the 6axis to peek around corners and above stuff, 6axis is optional.

i love socom and have an established clan that's migrated to COD4, they've gotta come stronger than this. COD has set the tone, and if you aren't gonna come harder than that then you need to re think it.

COD4 set the tone? uh their is no clan potential in that game whats so ever, oh you get to use a clan tag'?. socom is official when it comes to clans, clan warz, try out rooms,clan rosters and most of all you can join any room you want. call of duty is for noobs.

i play the old socoms more than cod4. its a cool game but its too easy and not as competitive as socom.
