1.1 - you also have to take into account....
that they stop producing the 80giger, so numbers will be lower than one would seem. I am sure alot of people are waiting for it to come back with BC and dual shock before buying one.

1.3 - I almost bought a PS3
I had it in my hand last week, but then I started looking at the features. No BC, no rumble, and 40GB. I can wait a couple of months to pick one up. The MGS bundle looks to be a better deal.

Until then my 360 and Wii will keep me busy.

Wow, numbers are low in america on all fronts. I wonder if this has anything to do with the credit Crunch the US is currently experiencing, still lets hope May and June provide better numbers for all consoles. Still it is the quiet time of year and GTA didn't come out until the very end of april.

Theres some people i know that will buy a PS3 with their stimulant check, hopefully that will help, but ya since the dollar is kinda weak, we wont see any pick up for both parties other than the wii do to it being really cheap, but Christmas should be another big pick up.

Wow. I had expected the PS3's total sales in the United States to be around 300,000 but the U.S Economy has definanlty played a big part.

However, the Playstation 3 continues to outsell the Xbox 360 worldwide regardless.

But I still think that a lot of people didn't get the 40GB PS3 in the U.S. and are waiting for the new 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundle. A lot of people that want PS3's in the U.S. want backwards compatibility and the 80GB PS3 has it. I think that June, the PS3's sales will be considerably higher than April's.

And it's obvious that a lot of kids are still dependant on their mom's and dad's to buy them game consoles too. With the average price of gas at almost $4.00 a gallon in the U.S., people just aren't spending as much on other things anymore.

I asked in the other thread but have no answer.

Didn't the PS3 GTA bundle release in May?

GTA probably sold a few XB's in April so their surge would be apparent. The PS3 surge wont show till Mays numbers are out.

The PS3 GTA4 bundle was, I believe, only released in Europe, so its sales won't be reflected in the NPD figures, which are North America-only.

Damn, thats stupid. I thought the US got the bundle too. They sold like Crown Lagers in OZ (Not Fosters, we send that crap overseas cos no one here will drink it.)

Shoulda put a bundle in the States Sony but I guess alot ARE waiting the the MGS4 bundle. I wouldn't mind one myself even though I have a PS3 already.

Sony has gone on record saying that the reason Australia wont recieve a MGS4 Bundle is due to the extremely poor sales of the GTA4 bundle. I guess people where waiting for a potentially superior MGs4 bundle with a Ds3.

Crown lager sales remain steady though!

Sadly, I dont really agree with them. It didnt seem to have any effect on hardware whatsoever. GTA or GT5:Prologue.

The legacy thing is kinda pointless to talk about now, seeing as how it did sell better on "the other guys" console, and im sure people are waiting for the real GT5, and dont want to shell out money for the demo.

Yup people are waiting for the full fledge GT5 or any Gran Turismo. Look at the sales numbers of the GT4 Prologue for Europe and Japan. Didn't sell that many.

GT5P is probably the best selling "Prologue" but majority definitely want the real deal. GT5P obviously is only catering to the hardcore fans of the series.

Actually, Im gonna get the regular 40gig + mgs4 when time comes, I looked on Konamis site and unfortunately there is no such thing as a 80gig bundle, the only bundle they got is with the 40gig ps3 for 599. Thats a steep price for 40gig unit and game. I guess no more 80gig units for US, at least they had some backwards compatibility.

15.1 - That's actually Konami's exclusive bundle that's Limited Edition.
The 80GB PS3 is now being packaged with MGS4 and a Dual Shock 3 (when it releases in June) and will be available for the forseeable future. Oh, and for $499. I'd actually just wait for the 80GB if I were you, and save $100 bucks for a better system.

900 difference.didn't it used to be half the sales of 360 in america?so either sony caught microsoft or microsoft is losing it's grip on america?

no excuses of shortages.no economy problems.microsoft lost it's big lead.and when sony's big guns arrive like "TWO" FFs,there will be no counters in sales as ps3s get snapped up left and right.

good going sony.you have a higher priced system,but you have matched microsoft 1:1 on their own turf.it only gets better from here.
