Metal Gear Solid 4 used the Playstation 3's high capabilities to its capacity

"Metal Gear Solid 4 surpasses the scale of its previous titles in all aspects, including their story, visuals, and music. Using the PlayStation 3's high capabilities to its capacity, I believe that our developers have realized Metal Gear Solid 4 without any compromise."

Tanaka added that the company is keen to explore the capabilities of the PS3 further, and will continue to develop more titles for the system.

"We believe that the PlayStation 3 still has some undiscovered capabilities, and there's still many points where we can be more clever to take its full advantage," he said. "We will continue to create more good products in the future."

Its been out for 1 year....of course they have room to find "undiscovered capabilities"...just like every other console in history.

Look at ps2 games in the beginning and look at ps2 games now...bigbig difference. God of War 2 i would have never thought would be possible on the ps2, but the developers proved me wrong.

When Killzone 2 hits all the "experts" will say that it maxed out the PS3, then when GoW III hits they'll say the same. And so on and so on...

This is how Sony's consoles work. Theres always more power being pushed out of them.

i agree to what you're saying and as a matter of fact the gameplay they showed may look worse than the original but in case you missed it, it does say in very BIG LETTERS 40% PERCENT DONE!!!

So judging by that the polishing should bring it up ahead of Mtrm1 by a bit.. even then, the best part of that game imo are the physics... i did love the graphics but the physics have put any other arcade racing game way way behind

the ps3 is a beast and a graphics Whore.. lol. Look at gt5, cod4, gta4, uncharted, ratchet clank, heavenly sword, and motorstorm all in the ps3's first year.. all these games look awesome.. I have yet seen a game that looks better than uncharted and gt5.. Just think about how ps3 games will look in 2009.. I cant even imagine what they will look like. All i know is we will all be happy and drooling

Are the graphics on Uncharted that good?
I always thought edges looked a little too sharp and not very smooth.
Although I only downloaded the demo from PSN.

Does the full game look much better?
I always though Heavenly Sword and Call of Duty 4 looked better to me.

Do yourself a favor compare the blocky shadows and suspect lighting of COD4 to the crisp dynamic shadows of Uncharted - That proves that UNcharted is the best so far. Among developers Uncharted is a new epoch.

by using your logic, the PS3 had a better line up last fall because they had different genres like Ratchet and Clank, Eye of Judgement, and Folklore?
As far as being "brand loyal" I guess I fall under that category. Am I brainwashed??? I don't believe so. I just prefer certain games and I am not big on multiplayer which to me, seems like the bread and butter of the Xbox.
To be honest, I have never played either Xbox console. That being the case, I never say one console is superior to the other. I can only argue from my point of view and I have nothing to compare against the PS3. I come to N4G to find out news and rumours about my console of choice, and maybe post some speculations. I am very excited about MGS4 and like to share my anticipation with my fellow N4G'ers. In my opinion, anyone who considers this game "just another shooter" clearly hasn't played it.

you know not everyone on this site is rabid ps3 fanboys a lot of people are just looking forward to mgs as a game and will have fun playing that game.

im sure people will point out its flaws and greatness after launch its not just sony fanboys that take this too seriously the xbox peeps do also. its a bit weird yes am i a fanboy no do i own 360 or wii no but i hope to this year.

one thing ive always found about those who have used windows or any microsoft product, they 90% of the time have a short temper especially when it comes to somethign being better than what they have. MGS4 will have amazing graphics, amazing gameplay, and i dont doubt it for a second that this game will be GOTY
