IGN: SOCOM: Confrontation Declassified

The intelligence on SOCOM: Confrontation has largely been under tight wraps, with bits of information leaked here and there, mostly by way of the official SOCOM site. With E3 and other events quickly approaching, that should all change soon. To get IGN up to speed and ready for their impending time with the game, they fired off a number of questions to David Seymour, design director over at Slant Six. Here's what he had to say.

'IGN: Why the focus on an online-only experience?

David Seymour: The combination of high quality voice chat, the upcoming integrated communication features of XMB.'

----

hmm, who thinks that means In-Game XMB ready in time for Socom: Confrontation?

Also

'David Seymour: The feel of the game is far closer to SOCOM 2 than SOCOM 3.'

Thats just what i wanted to hear

In-Game XMB is rumored to be out before Metal Gear Solid 4.

Sony mentioned in the beginning of Summer, technically June is Summer, and I do believe the trophies alone are apart of the In-Game XMB system.

I played the other night and well...

The sniper jumpers really owned me. I hope they add "severe"scope drift for people who are trying to run and snipe at the same time. I remember in Socom 1 and 2, it was really harder to do that. Socom 3 really made it easier for snipers to do that bullcrap.

I also hope they don't have levels like Socom 2 where you could spam grenades from the get-go into the others teams start location. Hopefully with the bigger levels that's not possible. I also hope one day we will get vehicles back, i.e. the river boats and the humvees/dune buggies. The tanks however were a bad idea, since no one really carried At-4 because of the extra weight.

I highly doubt there will be splitscreen. This is a online only game. Sorry.

Warhawk has online split-screen.

I'm pretty sure this game will over split-screen.

great interview but what about the frame rate issues that seems to be always an issue since socom 1?

I hope they bring back the Socom 1 and 2 weapon feel. Since socom 3 the weapons seemed to be very balanced that anyone can pick up any weapon and be good with it. especially the snipers which played a role in ruining socom in socom 3.

Socom 1 and 2 weapons you actually needed some skill and patience to use the weapons, especially unpopular weapons that many people had a hard time using but gave credit to those that can (which made socom 1 and 2 the best).
