GTA4 becomes best and fastest selling PS3 game

According to VGChartz.com sales data, Rockstar's highly anticipated title: Grand Theft Auto 4 has become the fastest selling PS3 game and achieving top spot in software sales, beating Motorstorm in just two weeks. Something interesting to note is that on the first week one million copies were sold in Europe and USA respectively, making it the first game for PS3 to achieve this accomplishment.

Wagslave psn did not crash the servers for the game were overloaded. Also that implies the whole network was down. My console did not freeze on me yet.

How is this news. There really is nothing else on PS3 right now. I'm really waiting for the good stuff, sony has promised. Up to GTA4 release the games where pretty slim. I really had no reason not to power up the xbox. Its a good game I like it and I can see how it required an immense amount of work and I appreciate that.

when halo sold millions the first week breaking records, even its own, it wa sposted 10000000000 times whats the difference with this? this is the best selling Ps3 game in just two weeks, its pretty interesting news

..great for the PS3 but was there any other game that stands a chance. Well maybe GT5, but that's about it. GTA caters to more than just the Hardcore, so well deserved.

I mean GTA was always the best selling game on PS2, I love MGS and would love it to see it sell better but no MGS has sold over 5mil if im correct while GTAs have done 10mil+

GT is in the same category as GTA. One version of GT sold over 14 milion, which I cannot remember though.

GTA4 sold a little over 3million in US & Europe ONLY...MGS4 will see successful numbers from all 3 territories including Japan. Expect over 3 million also, a couple of weeks after launch for MGS4!

5 - It really is that good

I think GTA IV is one of my all time favourites. Why? I love it. Can't really put a nail to it why, but it has so much going on and the story is, not original but, presented in a interactive way never experienced before by me.

Everything can of course get better, as always. Still it gets me going and going and going. Picking it up. Next mission, next development of the story. Car chases, out gunning opponents, play some pool with roman. Getting mad at scripted drivers automagically appear when it hurts the most for the car you're driving. So big and detailed city I think I will have a long time before getting tired of it. etc,etc. Sentimental elements exists too. Depth.

I love it as long it doesn't freeze on me. :)

Everyone keeps talking about their respective systems games as being GOTY. When I think GTA might just take it this year. Interesting to see a multiplatform game winning game of the year 2 years in a row with COD4 winning in 07.

Of course it's way to early to have any idea but GTA appears to be definately in the running.

Props to Rockstar! Now where is my PC version?

4.1 - You make no sense. The "fastest" kept getting overtaken by numerous games until GT5 Prologue now GTA IV.

PS3 launched March 31, 2007 in Europe and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (march 28, 2008 in EU) had the fastest sales record just before GTA IV launching on April 29, 2008 in Europe.

PS3 finished it's launch window on April 27, 2007 in India about a year ago. The only aging current gen console is the 2005 360...lol

A quiet, cool running, gorgeous console with a sleek interface and way more features.

There is nothing HD about 360. Well hd dvd (but I wouldn't brag about that)..lol

HDMI 1.2 came out late for the 360 (I guess your admitting to buying it again cause the launch ones had no HDMI)...
