I might be mistaken, but I seem to remember them saying that there will be 2D representation of trophies on the XMB in addition to the 3D versions in Home. Maybe that's what they are going to implement in June?

i must have missed that, it would be cool on xmb, but i look forward to having the full home integration. i guess well see in june. Trophies, Home, In-game XMB, and great games coming, could be a good year for PS3.

maybe but at least u get actual 3-d trophies that u can distinguish from each first-party game. Achievements on the other hand are a mesh of numbers mixed together into a "score." dunno bout u guys but i rather see something other than numbers home will be well above achievements IMHO

I agree that full functioning xmb wont come until until e3 or later. However, I do feel that that something like trophies or certain aspects of in game xmb will come sooner, in time for mgs4

it was stated a while before update 2.3 that firmware update 2.4 would contain in game xmb features. I don't think it'll be full, but that would be pointless anyway.

I think it'll just be access to the friends list and the new trophies system, which I look forward to =)

Now THAT would be INCENTIVE to beat games...trading in points you earn for performing well in games, to get things such as rare PSN ID avatars, game unlocks, extra missions, etc etc.

Achievements are nice and all, but what can you do with the points besides boast and brag?

And then Sony will give those results to game devs, and the devs can choose the highest-scoring and most worthy gamers to take part in their betas. You could receive a notification from Sony saying:

"Congratulations! Due to your high accuracy levels in First-Person Shooters, (developer's name here) has chosen to include you in the beta testing phase of their newest game, (game's name here)! Choose "Download Beta" to begin testing as soon as possible!"

I don't get it?...when you switch back to the PSN its still free...your comment didn't make any sense...

I will admit that the messaging sucks for the PSN right now...but that is it...it has more games with dedicated servers than XBL has ever dreamed of...and aside from 11 hours on GTAIV's launch it has run problem free for me...

can't say the same for XBL...I remember being home for the holidays, and trying to play some Halo 3 with my little cousin...and the $50 a year really shined for us...

you have to admit dude...when comparing the features of XBL to the PSN...you have to ask 'where is my money going'...its not dedicated servers (arguably the most expensive component of the network by far)...you pay 50 a year just messaging in game?...so what happens when the PSN gets that in a free update...will it still be the 'premium' service?...

100% totally agree...I wouldn't pay for it, so I guess I can't really whine that much about (long online PC gamer, paying on top of your ISP charge to play games online is something only MS, or AOL, would ever dream up)...but it was the ONLY feature that XBL had over the PSN...why Sony has let XBL off the hook for so long with this is beyond me...they could have matched a premium service for zero charge right out of the gate...

no idea why we are still waiting for that...its beyond ridiculous...

Actually it isn't, cause no one predicted Sony to be in 3rd place at this time. Most people thought the PS3 would overtake the 360 in 2006 but it hasn't happened yet. Probably the same people who predicted the Wii to be a flop. It's a win for Microsoft being able to stay in 2nd place this long.
