Rumor: New PS3 firmware may fix GTA problems

In spite of a patch, many PS3 owners are reporting problems with Grand Theft Auto IV. While a number of solutions have been suggested, many are hoping for a better solution. According to one post on the PlayStation forums, a Take Two representative said the issue was "with the launch edition of the PS3" and that "the game was checked over and passed as 100% compatible with the current version of the PS3."

they need to fix the MP now!

I have yet to have my 60GB launch ps3 froze while playing GTA. So It much be just a select few that have the problem

well i dont have freezing issues. My game froze once during loading.

What i did was log off of the PSN and I could suddenly play the single player.

However, after I did this I logged back on and could play the Single Player but now i cannot play online :(

So, my game froze once and now my MP is acting up. However, my MP worked fine before the freeze...

I haven't had any issues with GTA4 at all. It was said that most of the issues were with the 60GB models, and I have a 60GB model with no problems while playing GTA4.

Half year delay due to PS3, missing DLC, no achievements, mandatory installation, plus this unresolved broken gameplay issue.

If you have both consoles you would have to be certifiably insane to buy the PS3 version of this game.

well...that mandatory installation removes almost all of the popup, the ps3 version will have dlc (just not this year or something), also not everyone plays a game to have achievements (honestly i just don't get it why so many ppl want achievements/trophies/accompli shments whatever they name it) i mean i get the feeling half of the xbox players only play games just to get achievements it's really mind-boggling to me...oh well suit urselves.

now on topic, ps3 launch units? i must be a lucky bastard cause i've got one of those and i haven't seen a single crash lol

... if sony would hurry the hell up. It's been 2 weeks and I havent played 1 single mission of GTA4 due to freezing within 5 seconds of playing. All I know as I was on the phone with tech support last night i was told that they still dont know what is causing the problem :(
