IGN: Resistance 2 Interview

During IGN's brief hands-on with Resistance 2 they were granted a mere taste of bigger, better things to come. From what they could gather, developer Insomniac and its CEO, Ted Price, aren't content to pull off the bare minimum, incremental update. Rather, the game is taking a larger scale, much more social, open approach to multiplayer.

IGN had a chat with Ted Price about the current state of Resistance 2; he was careful not to touch on the single-player too much – though they pressed him a couple of times anyway. He does however go into the new emphasis on squad-play in the 60 player multiplayer, as well as details on co-op, the 1950s setting and much more in this introductory interview on the anticipated PS3 shooter.

Well what other FPS is coming this yr to take the spot? Its this haze or battlefield.

Edit: Forgot far cry. It will be between this and far cry most likely. Haze and battlefield simply aren't worthy

I'll agree with the this as being the 'one' with the most hype, but they will always be a cod4 for every halo...
edit: oh that reminds me, COD5 ought to be out this year as well...plus some things that haven't been revealed yet.

i know lots of people are talking all about killzone, which will be uber sick, but this is my most hyped ps3 game after MGS4 comes out.... this is my shiit, my baby.... i cant wait for this... the campaign is so awesome!

I'm with you. Alot of people complained about the first Resistance, but to me (once again to me) Resistance: Fall of Man was one of the best shotters I've played since Golden Eye. I don't have to put any thought into buying this one. Resistance is by far my favorite FPS franchise, with Call of Duty 4 coming in at a close second. Can't wait for Resistance 2.

Edit: Just read the Gamer Zone Guidelines, looks like their cracking the whip on trolls.

I'm looking forward to Resistance 2 somewhat, but my mouth is just watering for Killzone 2. I mean, we've already seen Resistance on the PS3 and pretty much know what to expect in terms of gameplay, but there's just a lot more about Killzone 2 that's just so much more exciting and get's your heart pumping even faster.

I like the fact that the graphics in Resistance 2 have greatly improved since the first game, but I'm looking forward to the story more than anything else.

7 - The last part is really interesting.

When he says the leap from Ratchet to Resistance 2 is going to be equivalent to the previous leap from Resistance 1. And if you go to Insomniac's website and look up their documents from the Nocturne Initiative, you can see how much technology they moved off the PPU and onto the SPUs within just one year.

This is the game that I'm most excited about right now. I really love Resistance: Fall of Man. :)

Hopefully there's some good in-game footage available on the 13th of June. It was kinda hinted at in the teaser. I want to know if it looks anywhere near as good as the "screenshots" that were posted back in January.

Huh? Gears 1 looked beautiful, and gears 2 is looking the same with miner enhancements.

Resistance hasn't even shown the single player campaign gameplay footage, and your talking about it sucking ass because its graphics don't meet your standards for a shooter?

If you look, or actually play resistance fall of man, you would see it was an amazing game, and the story was remarkably well thought out.

Gears had amazing game play mechanics, graphics, and environment, as well as a year and a half after the launch of the 360 to have time to play with its mechanics.
It lacked a story worth thinking about.

Resistance was a launch title for the PS3, having about a year to actually get anything workable to run on it, as they got there dev kit much latter then they should have.
Basically, resistance was a huge achievement for what time they were given to work with, and learning as they go.

I don't even know the last time a system launched with a title as good as resistance with out having had 2 or 3 years time to figure out the system, or it being made by the consoles own developers(think NES).

There is no denying Gears of War as a great game, but you messed the whole point of Resistance if you thought it sucked, just because some textures didn't look as good as gears or wars.

Resistance 2 will be a major stepping stone in the quest to see just how far you can take a game, and if it fails, or reigns supreme is still to be determent, just as Gears of War 2 is still in the line of fire.
