First Guitar Hero IV Details Shed

The June issue of Game Informer has an exclusive cover story on the fourth major entry in Activision's top-selling Guitar Hero franchise.

Guitar Hero IV will follow closely in the footsteps of Rock Band, offering new instruments including a bass, microphone, and six-piece drumset that includes two cymbals.

Why don't people just pick up a real guitar. It's so much more fun! The ladies(or guys) love it! And I've lost all hope in Guitar Hero being a partly good series ever since "Legends" of Rock. I know that more than half of the bands on GHIII are definitely not legends of rock. What on earth is AFI doing on LEGENDS of Rock? Why isn't Rush on there? Led Zep, I think I know why... Grr anyway...

It's exactly what I DID. I, thanks to RockBand and Guitar Hero, have since picked up an acoustic guitar (I had it just played it again), got electric ones at school to play, and just last Sunday got a drumset.

its called GUITAR Hero dammit..... and unless they offer me more then 3 songs a WEEK as DLC... they Rock Band has them beat.

Remember the Tony Hawk games... well Guitar Hero is going down the same path

Rock Band undeniably was a smashing idea. Activision are now riding off the idea. Which is sad, seeing innovation go down the drain like yesterdays left overs.

Yea... Activision were talking about taking Guitar Hero in a new direction and I guess this is the direction. I seriously loved Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2. Those games were truly legendary and brought fun with skill in equal amounts. However Guitar Hero 3 was simply over complicating a song just for the sake of making it harder, take Tenacious D "The Metal" song for example, I never knew a song that had a slooow solo in the middle could be riddled with more notes than the entire song.

However, I won't be purchasing Guitar Hero IV, good luck to Activision.

5.3 - Rock Bands only saving grace is its Drums
The Guitar EA put together sucks monkey f*** lol seriously I hate it. GH has RB beat in the Guitar portion. Seriosuly all Rock Band is a bunch of games in 1. GH 4 is what GH3 should have been.

Add remixed video game music like the videos on youtube! Like playing a rock version to the zelda theme. Or the metal harbor stage from Sonic adventure 2!! Don't follow Rock band footsteps, that's the whole reason we have rockband.

this is annoying, you have rock band and guit hereo 4 that means u have like 8 different accasoory for 2 games, thast kidan of ridiculouse. ill just want for rockband 2, hopefully they will ahve a drum set with double kick drums.

Screw that. If I wanted Rock Band, I would have bought Rock Band!!

Guitar Rising better make it to consoles.

On another note, this made me laugh.

i don't like the addition of different instruments to GUITAR hero (couldn't they have added a keyboard?), the make-your-own-song feature sounds like it could be decent, but theres a big chance it could fail. i'll wait for more info before i make a decision about this one.

in fact, maybe they should just make a guitar hero game that let you play with a real guitar. then people would actually be learning something while having fun.

Make your own song will be great if you can input actual songs. No lyrics, fair enough, but I'm sick of waiting for good songs. I'd pay triple if you could just play your own MP3's off your HDD.

The only way I'm buying this is if I can use my RB stuff. There's no way I need two sets of drums and 4 guitars sitting in my living room. It would be a fatal mistake to not make the controllers "cross-compatible." Sort of like all those stand-alone copies of RB that were sitting around gathering dust until a few weeks ago.

Guitar Hero 3 going up against Rock Band ensured that I was totally over the Guitar Hero franchise. GH4 will have to be really amazing to get me back into it - I just don't think Neversoft can compete with Harmonix in making music games.

Is it me or are they milking this series. I bought GH 2 and GH 3 only just came out, now they bringing GH 3 out.. It seems they bringing out versions quicker than Pro Evo. Sort of P's people off as you just think.. def not spending 70 on the package yet again.

I'm happy that Guitar Hero is making great games, but copying the idea of Rock Band with drums and vocals, will it work?. I hope they change it a bit because people (mostly Rock Band fans) might not like Guitar Hero taking their ideas and layout of the game. BUt still the game looks so sweet!, can't wait till early next year, but until I'll have to rock out with Guitar Hero 3!
