hahaha let me introduce you to motorstorm's new son...the monster truck.
Think he expected some kind of applause from that.

@MKred wherever you are, i see what you mean about the visuals sort of looking downgraded but the game is so much more interactive its ridiculous. The water the vegetation all that takes it to a whole other level. Hopefully though the visuals can get polished up. Nothing wrong with looking pretty :D

I suspect the final visuals will top Motorstorm, when this game is released.

I hope you realize that you really don't know squat about it more than anyone else. Don't go tellin' people this is in this stage and that is in that stage. It says pre-alpha and that's all. And we all are fully aware of it. So just shut up and let people talk.

Yeah, srsly!! When M1 was shown off at E306 it looked pretty awefull, yet when it hit TGS a few months later it looked great, and when it launched it looked a good 80 percent to the E3 pre-render.

Contrast that with this: the interactivity is MUCH closer to what was promised with the original BS render--further the graphics this time are WAY beyond where they were when the first game was initially unveiled (at about 40 percent feature complete too, btw). These two things, I think bode extremely well for the prospects of Pacific Rift, given that it is about 6 months?>> out!

Edit:
Sonarus--Isn't it supposed to be a Q3-4 title. That means 4-6 months, not 2.

Well only a couple of months to go, i would expect them to be further along that 40%. Anyways i recognize its pre alpha or whatever but even at this stage, you would expect it to be surpassing MS1 visuals since MS1 was a launch title

Another thing this appears to show is that the "bouncy" physics have been toned down a bit--at least I hope!

Nice. Splitscreen seems to hold up really well. Cant wait.

I'm not even slightly worried about the visual. We all know how much the graphics and speed improved in the last couple months for part one. Every weekly update looked better and better. Besides it so obvious from that video that so many effects aren't even in place yet. I'd bet the final product looks more like the CG trailer than it will this video come release time.

I think if they are going to release a pretty CG trailer, they should NOT then release footage of the game in pre-alpha that doesn't even look close, because they will dash people's hopes for the graphics even if they end up matching the trailer in the end. I was impressed by the water, the interactive vegetation, the ripples when they drove into the water were nice. The vehicles look very good too. I think it's just (as ever) the lighting that could be improved. To me it's mostly lighting/shaders that affect the visual quality of a game nowadays. Thankfully this is _exactly_ the kind of thing they have time to work on before fall :)

7 - With it being pre-alpha...
I can say that from what I am seeing at the moment, this game looks like it will be a blast. I loved the first one and now to be in the jungle... Just cool IMHO.

What happened to this game I mean they dowgraded everything and nothing looks realistic at all! Even the Wate and grass look like a joke sheesh! Whats up with PS3 going backwards and games starting to look worst then the original! I didn't see any but hopefully RFOM2 single players looks better then what was shown today at Sony's gamer day!

9.1 - I agree with you on Motorstorm
But not Resistance. This isn't some "new trend" for PS3 games. They're simply showing this game WAY too early, and I'm still not sure how they're going to hit their release date.

11 - I like how interactive the vegetation is.
But I'm worried about how detailed the vehicle destruction is going to be this time around. Hopefully it's a lot more insane than before, because I already like the soft-body dynamics that they've added. Water needs a lot of work; they should get the source code from Naughty Dog.
