lol, i want this story to become nova hot just mock it when numbers are released, showing that the PS3 moved five times more hardware than the 360 because of gtaIV (500000 console bundle sold), so who's the winner?

How exactly does MS know that consumers prefer GTA on the 360? Base on everything I am reading, the ps3 have a higher attach rate for the game than the 360, and GTA has moved more ps3 hardware than the 360.

And I don't mean world of warcraft. I think it's simple math MS. I'm no fanboy but I also did not go to school for lunch. Well maybe a little :). A greater install base means what people? More sales. It's quite obvious they will sell more but showing the UK region was quite silly I think. It's not even by that much. Why not show NA instead where they know it's their bread and butter. Oh MS sometimes I wonder about you. Anyways I guess I should say congratulations because I don't know what else you want customers to say. We bought the game on whatever console we have and that's that. You worry about what console customers bought it on, we as gamers just want to play the game. And on that note here comes the disagrees.

well I heard that both ps3 and 360 have had huge sales in hardware last figures I saw was ps3 126 percent increase with Microsoft having 125 percent increase. but I still want to see a months worth of data to really get a good view of what the real stats are. My opinion that both console will have huge console sales and software sales with 360 leading majority of the regions.

In the UK and the US, the 360 version sold around 55-60% of total GTA units.

Across Europe (excluding UK figures) it was the other way around, with the PS3 pushing 60% of the GTA sales.

Worldwide, it is about 50/50 when averaged out.

Given the 360 has basically double the install base of the PS3, the attach rate of the PS3 version is double that of the 360.

Some people do not realize that it is that bad on the Xbox 360 hardware front...even the new machines are crashing...but I have a machine that is about 2 years old...and it still runs...do you know why? I never turn it on much. I know if i bought GTA4 and played it all the way through...my 2 year old Xbox 360...would not make it
....My PS3 has been folding@home 24/7 for over a year...with no issues...and I would not be affraid to play all the way through GTA4 or MGS4 on that machine.
i'm glad i got the ps3....with bluray + free online + the game + 10 year machine + solid hardware ....man its really a one sexy machine

But what i'm saying is that even though it's seen as a PS brand game it's expected to sell more on the MS front simply because it is a popular game and MS has more systems. It's not like those who have a 360 will go out and buy a PS for GTA4. So therefore the sales will go to MS and those with the PS will buy for it. That's all I was saying folks. Why the disagrees? I guess I have to realize that when you say something people don't like and not necessarily disagree with with they like to hit the ol disagree button. But i'll just give those the benefit of the doubt and say that people just disagreed because they did just exactly that. Diagreed. Happy gaming people.

are you clowns still fighting over what console sold what? Because as I see it, both Sony and Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves for letting the Wii become the number one Console. Both parties have dropped the ball and are now trying to make themselves look good. When one of them pass the Wii, then they can talk numbers.

i.e. Out of 360 and PS3 customers, twice as many PS3 customers bought the game. How that equates to "Consumers prefer GTA IV on 360" is beyond me. I mean come on. Only a 10% sales advantage with that big of a hardware lead?

I thought the 360 version of GTA 4 would have sold a lot more than that compared to the PS3 version, especially considering that the 360 has a bigger install base thats nearly twice the size of the PS3 in the UK gaming industry.

GTA 4 Sales: 514,000 360 copies sold - 413,000 PS3 copies sold. The numbers are not that far off from equal!

With almost twice the number of 360s to PS3s in the UK, the 360 should be killing the game, but it's not. 514,000 360 copies sold to 413,000 PS3 copies sold is not a major difference at all, in fact for Sony this is very good news. Plus Sony have sold more PS3 consoles than the 360 in the period that GTA 4 was released. This shows that many UK consumers are rapidly scooping up PS3s, more faster than those buying 360s. It also shows that the PS3 has a higher attach rate than the 360 in the UK and puts lie to the myth the PS3 is only bought for Blu-Ray. I really do think Microsoft need to check facts before mouthing off with near-empty boasts.
