Not bad for an 18 certificate game. If this was available to all I expect it would of sold a whole lot me. But then, that wouldn't be GTA.

a lot of people have been saying that this is no big deal because gta is multiplat, whereas games like halo were exclusive. while theres a certain amount of truth in that, halo didn't have an 18+ certificate.

Its amazing what a popular multiplatform game release can do! You have to wonder though, if it was timed exclusive to one of this consoles, would it have had the same honor? I think it would have been very close. The popularity and hype surrounding GTA is undeniable.

still cant believe i bought into that hype. i stood in line in times square for the halo legendary edition. that game eventually got traded in for gta4

i stood in line for gta4 also but this game actually delivers, aside from the retarded spawning the online has. i wanted the limited edition with the duffel bag and case but it was sold out..it looked so cool

7 - Do you know what the best thing about this is?
This means that Video Games will finally start getting the respect that they deserve. I wouldn't be surprised if Hollywood start putting more money into interactive entertainment.
Old Spielberg has already started the ball rolling with Boom Blox hasn't he?

No matter what your console preference, this is good news for our industry in general.

More respect means more investors, and eventually more great games!

i wouldn wanna see another uwe boll movie ever again. if they can find good directors for vid game movies no one would turn to him for movies anymore and we'll actually see cool video game movies.....hopefully

Sad but true, Halo 2 and Halo 3 both broke sales records and the videogame industry didn't gain any respect out of it, what makes you think they will get any respect out of this?

actually gta could...its much more cinematic then halo...script/soundtrack/cinem atography...mark my words the best games are already recognized by Bafta...US will follow soon. look at bioshock for example...

cant think of any other games that can sell so much so quick...
of course asking that question you will hear people blurt out random ps3 games most likely but.... not gonna touch these sales anytime soon especially if they are on 1 system

There could be a better game released this year, but because GTA4 is a sequel to a series with a great track record and has all the hype and publicity in the press for violence: it was always going to break sales records.

It would sell even if it was rubbish.

not opening week but...cod 4 has had unbelievable legs... it's the biggest selling non-Nintendo bundle game this gen...but gta selling 6 mill, limited with stock sellout, looks to quickly be kicking its arse very soon...

and thats why Rockstar will do GTAV for Xbox 360 and PS3, if GTAIV were PS3 exclusive the sells wouldn't compare to this. Congrats Rockstar. LOL at the fanboys who thinks that any of the millions GTAIV buyers will never buy the DLC.

if the next one takes a few years to come out..then the next xbox may be out with bigger storage capabilities and then it will deff get another GTA

Its crazy that videogame sells even more than such movies like Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, and as GTA IV being Biggest entertainment launch of all time, it even sold more than Lord Of the Rings. WOW. There really have to be something in it, some kinda magic what other games dont have, because the most serious threat to GTA IV is Saints Row, and even this game cant push GTA away from its kingdom. Theres really something special in it, which we cant quite understand. Im so happy because of Rockstar right now, everytime when they bring out new GTA they are going to make more money from it compared to previous release. I mean every Developers cant do such a thing, forexample look EA, they have ruined the once loved need for speed series, they now look like crap, i think they just have to take break from makeing NFS. But for R*, keep up the good work, and make another game which sells even more than GTA IV.
