It also didn't want me to play a game where all I do is the same old same old since GTA3, only with shiny new graphics.

Had it for about two days then sent it back to gamefly.

The rag doll physics alone make me want to play this all day. Going as fast as you can and then jumpin out of your car right in front of an on comming car is hilarious.

What jack thompson has to realize is that video games only makes certain people violent(angry german kid) but the majorty of the gamers are regular people who arent affected in anyway by the games. Thompson compares video games to lung cancer is just ridiculous. The percentage of smokers getting lung cancer and gamers turning violent is completly different.

I don't think Jeremy would know the difference between xbox and playstation. He just likes cars and so he plays car games.
Its like when he did the comparison between racing a track in Gran Turismo and the real thing. He did the course in the game to get the best time he could and then tried to beat it in the real car on the real track....he got no where near.
He said the big difference between the game and real life is fear.

8 - Some skepticism is warranted
Alot of ppl get offended when this game is attacked by the media, but some of it is warranted. You have to admit that the cartoony graphics are geared toward children. A majority of people who play this game are probably going to be under the age of 12.

I always thought the immature nature of this game appealed more to the younger generation anyways. The novelty of reaking havoc in an open world wears thin after a few hrs. As an older gamer I need more substance from a game.

Anyways, I went over to my buddies house the other day and his 8 year old was playing this game. It made my stomache turn. I don't think a 8 yr old should be exposed to things in this game like prostitution, public intoxictation, killing innocent bystanders for cash, etc. etc.

Now I'm not saying this kid is going to grow up to be a serial killer, but I don't think this is the kind of impression you want to give your kid of the world. It is a little irresponsible of R* to make such an explicit game on a console who's core demographic are kids. I think that they rely too much on pushing the boundaries and shocking ppl than actually making a compelling game.

8.1 - Cartoony?
Personally i think gta4 has some very realistic graphics. And as for kids playing this game, They aint meant to. Did you say anything to your friend about letting an 8 year old play a game rated for 18+? You cant blame a game for the people who play it. You wouldnt give an 8 year old a gun, or beer (well maybe you would), or car keys. This is the same. Dont bloody give it to people its not meant to be played by. You cant hold r* responsible for people who are legally allowed to purchase the game but then leave it out for 8 year olds to play. Its called irresponsible parenting and id say it accounts for more damage to young people than computer games do.

EDIT:
Core demographic may be kids, but i dont know many 15 year olds that can afford to buy a ps3 or 360 by themselves. Is it irresponsible to make the hardware used to play the game affordable to kids? And thats why we have ratings. SO people like myself, who work their arses off can enjoy their $2500+ entertainment system. And so responsible parents can know what games are not suitable for their children. Bad parenting pisses me off and its shows a great deal of ignorance when these people then turn around and blame everything and every one but themselves.

It is wrong that the 8 year old was playing this....but thats your friends fault, you should talk to him.

The graphics are kind of cartoony, but thats only because thats the best graphics they can produce for such a big game at this time. Personally the closer they get to real life graphics the more disturbing it would be.
Fact is this is aimed at adults, the high sales prove that the average gamer (who is usually around 30) do want to play games like this.
And as 30 year old, they are able to know the difference between right and wrong and have the right to be able to choose to get this game.
Its not fair that you should ban then game from them because some irresponsible parents don't know how to look after their kids.

I like Jeremy`s attitude, he`s hilarious but i`m fed up of checking the BBC channel every sunday for Top Gear just to find it is not on. I love the show and the wait is killing me.

The graphics are not cartoony. I would say last gen GTAs look more cartoony but thats bc thats all the console at the time could handle. Not bc they are targeting kids. I beat GTA4 and not one time was i told to kill innocents for money. Every mission you are killing murders and drug pushers. Let me guess the only time you have seen GTA being played is that 8 year old playing it. Most of this Gens console gaming is done by 18-25 get your info straight.
