Results: 37% of Gamers Are Having Problems with GTA IV

Based on a recent poll at Loot Ninja, it looks like more people than they thought are having issues with their copy of Grand Theft Auto IV. As of press time, 63% of you say you're not having any issues at all with the game. That leaves the other 37% out in the cold until Rockstar comes up with a solid fix.

I definatly think its something to do with the multiplayer being intergrated into the SP. I mean how could none of the reviewers not come across any problems?

when i turned psn off it was fine on my machine(60 gig). when it was on it was freezing like crazy.

But thats just a hunch

1.7 - These software issues on "some versions" of hardware are totally the platform holders fault

for releasing 27 F'ing versions of there consoles within 2 years of them being out. Every hardware revision of a console should be tested to run software exactly the same. Thats the whole point of a console.

Now developers have to QA on 5 different versions of hardware before releasing a game? People need to stop pointing the finger at Rockstar and direct it at the platform holders too busy falling over themselves to compete that they don't test their hardware correctly.

ok... who is most likely to answer a poll like this? People who are having problems. I can guarantee this poll is skewed. I would guess around 5% of people have this problem and the funny thing is my guess is probably as valid as this poll is.

I think the percentage will turn out to be higher! I bought the game on release and mine didn't go wrong until today when I tried to play on line, after that it went wrong every time. Oh and looking around the web I see it's also affecting 360's and 40Gb PS3's aswell!

well, we all know what happened to the IGN poll a week ago. I won't be surprised if the same idiots are using the same tequniques to inflate the numbers on this poll as well. I am not saying there are no issues w/ the game. All I am saying is that those polls are not professionally designed and looked after. So pretty much anything can happen.

I totally agree with u. Those that voted are most likely the ones that already have problems w/ their game, so I must say that the actual users with issues w this games is much less than the shown percentage. I think the number is around 10 percent of the total useres (on both consoles)

actually it is significant. 2400 people in a poll would be more then enough to statistically be accurate for an entire population.

However, this poll isn't Random. It isn't controlled either. There's no way to guarantee someone didn't vote 3-4 times. There's no way of knowing what console someone owns.

2400 people is about the only thing significant in the poll.

I am not able to get past the first cut scene!

This game is completely flawed...and needs to be recalled or a patch sent out within the first week..

And it effects both the PS3 and Xbox 360.

i agree that there is a problem and it affects both systems. but, as i said in another post. i'm not having any trouble. and why would i say that if i am (having trouble)? if i was having trouble i would be nagging about it. so, i agree there is a problem with the game that NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED; but, it isn't with everyone. but, this game does not deserve a 10 rating.

In the first 2 hours of playing it, it locked up twice and reset all my PS3 settings, but apart them 2 times its been alright no problems.

And it also would "hiccup" quite a bit but once I turned the "Network connection" to "Disabled" it worked fine.
*Just stay disconnected from the internet and the "Information board" while playing(unless playing online) single player missions and you will be fine.
*No more "hiccups" or freezing!

9 - 60gb PS3 Owner Here ~ January 07

I havent had any problems *knock on wood* w/ my GTA IV & PS3 and I've gamed on Tuesday for 9 hours straight, Wednesday for 9 hours straight, and Thursday for 9 hours straight and haven't ran into any problems.

Only once was when I quit out of the game for the first time on Tuesday it did the 3 beeps and my PS3 restarted itself, however now when I turn it off I pause the game first then I quit and it quits out without any problems

D: Shame today I won't be able to hit up GTA will be too busy doing my tic tac toe program for my programming class XD that this game has been keeping me away from starting haha

I bet with those 37% there are a lot of 360 users that have hacked their console and running bad quality DL-DVD 'backups'

I read many early reports of those having popins and who knows what, which could clearly be a combination of an illegal version, bad media and a specific DVD drive (that reads originals fine, but has some problems with less quality backups).

I personally am sick of pirated media. I have burned diskes all over the place. most of them are barely playable even if you put them in sleves. They look ugly and are bad quality.

ive realised its worth it to get the real thing...so much better. looks nicer, lasts forever with decent storage and its the best quality.

Whenever I drink in the game, my screen goes into a seizure inducing act of violence against my eyes and equilibrium. :-)

All seriousness, I have not had any lock ups, though a few loading pauses at times. I'm about 30% through the game.

actas123 - where do you get this stuff?, any RROD error has nothing to do with the game it is simply a coincidence or partily due to the fact that GTA keeps the disc spinning alot which would fail the DVD drive that was on the verge of croaking anyway.

Thats b/c most of these reviewers dont even play the games. I read a Mass Effect review where the guy called it Mass Defect b/c he kept dying & couldnt figure out how to progress... the friggin' idiot didnt even know how to skill up his character, & eventually, got to a point he couldnt pass...

Alot of these ppl just hop on the bandwagon once other previews/reviews hit, especially big games like this one.

I play consoles because I don't need to install and the game is done when it is released...oh wait....

hehe I love this game and have been having zero issues but the Irony of how consoles work this gen compared to PC's is rather annoying. To me, zero installs and zero patching was a big part of gaming on consoles in the past.

I actually don't mind patches or installs at all i dont think they are that big of a deal. I mean if it makes the game better then why not. 5 min isnt that long at all. If you can't wait that long you have patience issues. If installs got to be say 20 min then i would get your point but even then it wouldn't bother me too much.

I have had not one freeze.. I have a launch console 60 gig.. Not one freeze or anything problems with GTA4 (yes I gave in and bought it for those who have been following my comments).. On the other hand my buddy that has the same launch 60 gig his freezes about 8 times a day.. Personally I dont think its the console but maybe just certain game discs...

I gotta say I could care less about the GTA4 single player (which has been freaking boring).. GTA4 online party mode.. or interactive lobby as me and my buds call it.. Is by far the funnest thing for that game.. Funner than any game mode online with other people thats for sure...

I suggest to everyone.. Pile everyone you can into a heli and fly to the airport and have 3 more of your buds get into the police helis and have what me and buds call "black hawk down"(I know hella orginal HaHa)... First person to shoot down all the other helis from their helis wins.. Im telling you beats any online game
