Midway's taking open-world gaming to a "superior level"

Speaking to MCV following Midway's 2008 Gamers' Day in Las Vegas, International Executive Vice President Martin Spiess has blown the trumpet of the publisher's upcoming open-world game and big hope for 2008, This is Vegas.

"We have taken open-world gaming to the next level. All the things you want to do in a GTA kind of game but can't - like walking through a building and everything - you can actually do in This is Vegas. You can use the slot machine, go into a nightclub and do things you always wanted to do," said Spiess.

Just in case we were left in any doubt as to how spectacular a gaming experience Spiess hopes This is Vegas will be, he added: "You can experience something completely new. That's the superior level we've taken these open-world games to."

>walking through a building and everything

I personally don't care unless it makes sense within the context of the game.

If that's what this game is all about then midway is in trouble once again immediately after MK vs DC.

Seems odd to be saying that they're taking it to the next level and then to start talking about wet t-shirts games and beating up cheesey guys as though they're the only highlights of the game.

Sounds like a lot of wind to me.
