The Getaway PS3 in pre-production

DZ writes: "The PS3 version of the game has finally been confirmed to be pre-production, and is being currently worked on at the studio.

A small team is working on pre-production for the next iteration of The Getaway at the moment. In the future they will apparently be joined by the bulk of the Eight Days team when the latter is completed."

Cant wait for the Getaway, its going be nice to have some home town action.

Hopefully its a really close representation of London, that way a can Petrol Bomb my old work :)

1.1 - Here's what I can't wait for...
the sand-box open world game that takes advantage of the PS3's standard hdd, blu-ray storage, and the PS3 in general. I'm not knocking GTA IV. In fact I plan on calling out sick on Tuesday to enjoy it. I'm just saying that I want to see what this sort of game will be like on PS3. Again, not knocking GTA IV because it's actually said to be superior on PS3, but we've all seen how much better games that lead on PS3 (Burnout) or are built only for PS3 (Uncharted) compare to other games that aren't.

Yea...If rockstar makes the next GTA exclusive for some reason it would be a beast considering the extra time they have with blu ray development.

I really really want eight days for this yr though:D

i cant wait for the getaway but its disapointing to hear only a small teams working on it :{ means its still along way off, guess it also means it will release after 8 days so it sould look better and play better than 8 days once they get the help to finish it off.

I heard the Getaway was put on hold because the team was creating "Home" for the PS3

Don't know if that's rubbish or not, but "Home" definitely shares the same artistic style of previous Getaway games

I'm looking forward to the Getaway 3. Hopefully, they'll finally fix the awful shooting and healing mechanics

"Awful healing mechanics"

The getaway was (if I remember correctly) the game that pioneered the whole "no health bar" attitude to healing, much like it's done in Uncharted, COD4. It was just a bit weird that you had to lean up against a wall to heal :/

The whole open world idea didn't quite work in the getaway, but that's not why I liked the game. It was meant to be played through, chapter by chapter, and I loved the way you then got to play through the game from a different perspective half-way through. Very underrated IMO.

Sony is really gonna rock at this E3. The graphics shown at E3 2006 of Getaway and Eight days are doable & hopefully we will see some new footage this E3.:P

Please, please, please focus on gameplay this time instead of making kick ass graphics and atmosphere. The latter is always The Getaway's strengh, but the former is its weakness and a major one at that.

hopefully when we see it, it will get the gameplay rennovations it needs. if they could do that i might (uh oh) prefer it over gta

15 - Getaway = Grownups GTA
The Getaway is like a much more mature version of GTA. I loved the first, the way they recreated London - traffic laws and all. For my money, this game had some of the best car chases.

If the game bears any resemblance to the "real time" trailer they showed a year ago then it should blow people away.

Im not Worried about when this game will come out.. I mean there is enough games coming this year for PS3 that it should keep me occupied for 2 years.. I mean the exclusives and multies like madden.. I seriously Dont know where im gonna get enough time to play all the games.. I mean GTA, KZ2, Restance 2, SOCOM, LBP MGS4, I mean those are just A FEW.. I mean just to beat the Single player in those games is gonna take some TIME.. Thats not counting the online for those games which is even more time..

To be Honest I hope 09 is a lil less hectic.. haha cause im gonna need some time to finish and enjoy some of these games

so take your time on getaway.. make the game perfect... Us Ps3 owners have plenty on our plate this year
