Quartermann: First Info on Bungie's Next Halo? Plus Rockstar's Future Games

After shipping last fall's blockbusting Halo 3, revered developer Bungie stunned the world by announcing plans to liberate itself from Microsoft's ownership. Allegedly, that path to freedom requires that they develop a few more titles for Microsoft, and 1UP has heard rumblings that the first one will be a Halo spin-off due in late 2009. 1UP's spies tell to expect a third-person action/adventure shooter hybrid that takes place before the original Halo, chronicling early skirmishes between the ODST troops and the Covenant. This may or may not be the oft-mentioned "Peter Jackson Halo Project" -- though apparently Microsoft is hiring a seperate team for that -- but WETA is definitely involved in some capacity. Look for a massive reveal around the time Gears of War 2 ships this fall...

Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Revolver 2 are headed to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as is the previously PS3-only gumshoe adventure L.A. Noire. Also, a massively multiplayer extension of the GTA universe is in the early stages of development.

This was rumored a few months back that Sony had pulled the funding because the game was shiite. Not surprising that it would go multi-plat if they continued development. It's not like R* are the actual devs on it, they are just publishing it. Who the hell knows if this is something major or not anyhow. All we've seen are a couple of early rendered screens that show nothing. And it's supposed to drop in '09?

Well a Prequel to Halo would be great. If I am not mistaken there was talks about this game before Halo 3 came out on it would be about the Forerunners. So the game could be called Halo:Forerunners. Plus another thing about the rumor was that it would take place in the world of Halo but would not have Master Chief.

Weren't they mac exclusive b4 M$ bought them? I thought they carved a niche by making rip-offs of windows games for mac's.

Anyways, Halo is garbage, it's a rip off of HL and UT. Halo 2 had online but other than that all the Halo sequels have been mediocre at best.

I'm glad they didnt make the movie, the plot was taken straight out of a bad sci fi novel in a bargain bin at a used bookstore. Peter Jackson deserves better projects to be working on (Hobbit).

Halo has the most mindless, typical gameplay a FPS could have. The dev's at Bungie are finally realizing they need to come up w/ something different seeing as how Halo 3 didn't outsell Halo 2.

Quartermann is only a couple steps above surfer girl, snow shovel dude and my idiot friend who still plays with his Gamecube.

IOW, most of his drivel is rehashed from before or is so far down the line that it's difficult to really keep track of his accuracy. Oh, but don't worry, cause dude will let you know (REPEATEDLY) when he gets something right once in awhile. I bet his cube mate has to constantly remind him not to break his arm patting himself on the back.

I was already looking up to Red Dead Revolver, as it was reported as maybe being the secret R* PS3 Exclusive (aside not so secret LA Noire), not for it being only exclusive, but especially after they said 360 DVD limited GTA (as much as PS3 other problems too). I'll keep waiting to see, since GTA is around the corner and despite the critcs, looks like they made both version great, but I really would prefer this one as exclusive so they could really push it (be it on PS3 or 360).
