2.1 - all look pretty much the same to me too
with the only exception being soldier of fortune(no chance of me ever picking that up) which looks quite a bit better more foliage better floor and tree textures suppose you really have to see them move to see any real difference AA frame rate etc.

Unfortunately, Xbox360 versions are all far better…as usual.

I do not know…I begin to be afraid that all this talking about “warm and soft” GTA IV graphic for PS3 means the infamous “Vaseline Effect”…
And have you see the last in-game shot of MGS4 ?!? Terrible terrible terrible! It is a nightmare?!?!
And Kojima statements?
And Home not until this fall? And paying for GT Prologue? Great graphic but I just hope for something more… And when a Final Fantasy game will be released?

Well, I am quite tired of all the promises Sony keep doing.
They told me PS2 was the best console of the last generation and I believed them… Well it was a huge lie: Dreamcast, Xbox1, Gamecube… all of them were much more powerful consoles….
And now… an year has already pass…
I do not know. Maybe I only shocked by MGS4 graphic…

What a long off-topic rant from someone who just took this article as an opportunity to smear the PS3 name.

All of these game still simply translates into the 360 benefiting from its early availability and being the lead development platform, hence all the games currently available now are 3rd-4th generation engines on the 360 but only 1st-2nd on the PS3. But even now the differences are being minimized until it'll be unnoticeable by the end of this year.

Terminator, actually, I have a PS3.
But don’t you really fell frustrated?
I just keep on playing Uncharted and Ninja Gaiden… And watch bluray… but no much more with the exception of long term promises… and delays…
I was a die-hard fan (a true fanboy!) at PS2 times…
But now… I am enough grown up to be a blind fanboy… The evidences are all around…
After all, we just have to enjoy our great machine. With the awareness that also this time (at least for me) we do not have the super mighty console that Sony has promised us. Sony has cheated us again. And this is the only things that really makes me angry!!!

ps. MGS4 in-game shots show h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e background texture (in terms of resolution I mean) and many many rough details… Some seem really old gen!! Anyway it will be a great game, I am more than sure. But they just promise me a graphic masterpiece… You see another Sony promise.

I swear to your mom that my PS3 does not have this "Vaseline effect". This is weird to me. I mean, if i turn off full range and everything and basically try to make the screen look bad, then yea, it looks bad, anything would. However, everything enabled with HDMI....dood the colors are unmatched. Motorstorm, heavenly sword, uncharted, ratchet and clank, warhawk, etc etc. look IN-FCKING-SANE with proper equipment. And if you havent experienced it, i feel kinda sorry for you.

refering to MGS4 the graphics definitely look top notch, but you cant infer that from youtube quality videos over the internet can you? is your tv even hi def? and i mean really hi def? not some 720p resolution, but at least a 1080i or 1080p? have you downloaded the trailer? did you play the demo at E3? im pretty sure you haven't. in any case even if the graphics were crap who cares? i didn't exactly play through mgs1 for graphics anyway. hell MGS4 could be on the wii and i for one would still buy it first day.

I'm a little bummed b/c i thought this might finally be the time PS3 mounts an attack to the 360's undefeated throne,, oh well.

I'm glad i don't JUST have a PS3, b/c i'd be pretty bummed about it. I don't think these are ever going to change. I honestly think the 360 is a more powerful machine for graphics (maybe not physics, AI, etc.). It just is. There's many times i'm playing PS3 games where i see textures and think that same texture would be higher res if it was on my 360, sorry, but it's true.

Oh well. I'm loving both of em, just makes you wonder what a game like GT5P would look like on 360.

Disagrees away,,,,, but cmon, be honest and look at these shots... It just ain't gonna happen folks... This was how many rounds now???

would look like a slideshow on 360. so, if you want to play GT5P on the 360, heres what you do:

1) download as many images from IGN as you can to your computer.
2) View them as a slide show from My Pictures.

6.3 - well, i don't need to play it on 360
because i have it for PS3. And it is very good, if not a little cheap. Playing a game w/o damage after playing forza for a year was a big change though... But, don't get me wrong, it's an amazing game, but i do mostly play it for the graphics (i can read the wording on the headlight stalks for god's sake, incredible)...

Just saying, it most likely would NOT be a slideshow. The GPU in the 360 is just a better GPU. Simple as that.

8 - My only rant against the PS3 has to do with...
LACK OF ANTI-ALIASING!!!! on most multi-plat games the aliasing is inexcusable compared to the 360 versions...i dont get why it's like that, i mean i've seen games on the PS3 with really soft sexy looking edges. At first i thought it was just till devs figured the hardware out but we are 1.5 years into the cycle and still we have this annoying issue.

Do you guys think it might be that my tv screen is too big and it shows this flaw via HDMI...my TV is only 40" 1080p Samsung with motion flow 120Hz...

These comparisons are handy as I own both consoles, so if I ever go insane and decide I MUST play Fall of Liberty I'll surely know that the 360 version is better!

From a technical point of view, these are just fanboy fodder.

I think it'll be another 6 - 9 months before we see more and more comparable multi-platform games. Most games take around 18 months to 2 years to complete, so it's obvious that the 360 would be the lead platform.

As devs get a PS3 game under their belt it should see the gap close. I have a feeling most devs starting projects now, and probably in the last 3 - 6 months, may well be leading with PS3 if it's a purely console game, but may well still be on the 360 as a lead if the game includes a PC release as well.

Back when the rumor was going around that MGS4 was coming to the 360 some of you Sony guys was saying that the game was looking bad since it was a possibility that it was coming to the 360 it had been dumbed down graphically now its been confirmed a PS3 exclusive now you guys say the graphics look awesome. Make up your minds please!

The only thing 360 gpu that is any good, is the aa chip.

Graphically theres nothing to choose between them in most of these games.

Reason most of these games run like sh^t on ps3 is nothing to do with gpu, it's to do with small companies not knowing and understanding sh^t about cell. They just use the ppu, when they should be porting all available code to spu' and then the ppu runs it.
