'Grand Theft Auto IV' Does Not Have Split-Screen Multiplayer (Public Service Announcement)

MTV Multiplayer writes: "We've already reported that "Grand Theft Auto IV" does not have split-screen multiplayer. I am sure we did. A while ago.

But people keep asking about split-screen options on the comments sections of our "GTA IV" posts.

Sorry, but the option is just not there. Players can go anywhere in "GTA IV"'s massive city while in any of the multiplayer modes. I just can't see how a single Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 could have been expected to render two different parts of Liberty City at once even in a half-screen size. That's what many game makers tell me, too, when this topic comes up.

For all horsepower of this new generation of hardware, split-screen is just something that doesn't work. Not when the alternative - online one-system-per-TV gaming - is so easily achievable."

14 - I am still getting the PS3 version

M$ must have payed R* big bucks to not give the PS3 no love this time around. I was really hoping for split screen on the PS3 version. R* is just selling their souls to M$. Split scean would have given us some balance with the 360 version. Thats okay though. we still have Haze and MG4 this summer. There is no way MG$ will flop. Konami took a long time with that to optimize it for the PS3. 360 fans are always taking about the screen MG4 not having bright colors and the green haze. The green haze has always been there and the graphics may not be as bright as gears, buy the skin tone is better for sure. PS3 will be fine with the lineup we have. GTA is still a good game for PS3.

I knew the splitscreen wasn't exactly legit. It would have been nice if it was, but that doesn't hinder the game in any way.

I don't buy games when something like this happens. I can play Halo 3 with a buddy in the same room online against other people. If my ps3 can do warhawk, and my 360 can do Halo 3, then both systems should be able to do GTA4.

Why would I want to sit and watch my buddy play online? Why would he want to sit and watch me? Should we REALLY have to be on different systems to enjoy a multiplayer game? This same issue ruined burnout:paradise for me. If my wife and I can't play at the same time, there's not much point...

The IGN review stated that the Xbox 360 has more cartoony colors and aliasing features and a few fps drops,

The PS3 version has no FPS drops, and has more realistic colors.

POG shuttup, im favoring the ps3 version over 360 even though i have both because, i know the PS3 will run better and probably look better too, warmer more realistic colours is what i remember. want to know why it WILL run better for the majority? because where PS3 HAS to have the 5 minute install, 360 doesnt meaning alot of them CANT because not all 360s, (actualy a big amount) dont have HDD like ALL ps3's do so theres going to be a massive percent of 360 gamers playing a frame rate issued jaggidy inferior version of GTAIV, which no ps3 owner will have the problem, Power Of Gay.

Even if it did have split screen on the PS3 and not on the 360 why would that matter. Your not buying the game because it has split screen. Your buying it because you like XBL or you want to play that DLC that comes out in 6 months!
