Per the "article" (a single post on the NeoGAF forum), it is optional.

That "first review" also said the PS3 version had split-screen co-op and the 360 version doesn't. I think we'd have heard that from someone else by now, if it were true - that's a pretty significant feature difference.

No it isn't. My DS3 controller also has Sixaxis. I think a better use than controlling vehicles though is controlling where bullets or other weapons go. Maybe have a rocket launcher and use the Sixaxis to control it. I don't care for motion controls in cars. Airplanes are okay. The Sixaxis is great if used properly. It just isn't perfect for everything.

I'm as hardcore a GTA fan as you can be. I preordered the 360 collectors edition for the DLC but still want to see the differences the install and sixaxis bring.

Plus I have friends on both PSN and XBL and want to be able to play multiplayer with any of them.

I think ultimately a lot of duel console owner hardcore GTA fans will end up buying both versions. Especially if the differences are "fairly" significant. These differences sound significant enough for me to warrant owning both versions.

EDIT: I see some bitter one console owner did a phantom disagree. Hilarious. haha "You're either with us or against us"

If that info is right then the 360 would stream data at 133ish mb/sec and the PS3 would stream data at 72 mb/sec and don't forget the seek times will be longer for the blu-ray disk as it's larger and has more to scan over.

yeah buying both has crossed my mind... I might just do that. It's an option I have thought about because I have a lot of people I play COD4 with on XBL and it would be cool to hook up with them online.

But first I will play my PS3 version and see if I really need to add the 360 version. (I think after I start playing on PS3 I probably won't need to do the 360 version) I think it will come down to how well I can meet up and play people online, and if the multi-player option is really that much fun that I need my COD4 crew... We shall see.

but the thing with DVD drives are the speed is variable, meaning it will run at different speeds depending on where the data is on the disc, try a drive speed test on your if you don't believe me, whereas Bluray was designed to keep its constant speed throughout the disc.

So in certain situations the 360 drive will transfer data faster than the PS3 drive and vice versa in other situations (can't remember if DVD drives spin faster on the inner or outer of the disc)

the dvd turns at 12x speed BUT that doesnt mean you get the 12x datarate tahts not true.

first of all the 360 uses 8x (12x is only used on single layer disks with you dont see taht often on nextgen) and secondly is bluray CLV while dvd is CAV

CAV: The drives transfer rate is
variable. Information on the inside tracks of the disc is read at
approximately half the speed as the information on the outside of the
disc.

CLV: The drives transfer speed is linear or
constant regardless of whether information is on the inside tracks of
the disc or the outside.

means blurays deliver a constant amount of data while dvd dont, on the first part (inner circle) the dvd is faster but on most part its slower then the 2x bluray of the ps3.

very true but i think ultimatly their gonna be the same not including the DLC, regardlessly i pretty much never download DLC unless its free or extremely good, if i had to choose between ps3 and 360 version

360 version DLC has to blow me away(the only games that has blown me away is the first time seeing GT5Prologue and FF13 provided FF13 and Versus that it's in game which im pretty sure it is)

One thing though, if you had to choose between 360 and ps3 version, a logical person would choose 360 incase(incase being the operative word) it has good downloadable content(not buying game twice or waiting till DLC is released). The only reason to choose the ps3 version would be loyalty to GTA and its roots.

It's not good to go out of your way to get a console specific to loyalty or DLC, you gonna pick the console with the games you think are best whether it be PS3, 360, Wii or even a Game boy.

If you own a console, get it for your console, if you own both, choose what's more important to you? Loyalty to a company full of people you don't know(provided your a ps fan) or the "oh so specatcular" DLC that will make the 360 version "The ultimate experience" end sarcasm

yes reliability does come into a factor, 360s fail, some never do, some always do

ps3s fail too, i have had 3 fail on me(to be fair sony sent me back 2 defective units that were probably damaged during delivery so i blame puralator, the delivery guy was leaning the box agaonst wall with his leg, not even holding it,when i answered the door, twice)

overall ps3 has a much higher reliability than 360. It is an important factor but to me, i care about the games, not about reliability, i picked ps3 cause it had the games i enjoyed the most, pure and simple

Blu-Ray disks are read at a constant speed, while DVDs are read at a slower speed as it gets closer to the center. HD-DVD / Blu-Ray are read at a constant speed, so it stays constant 1x throughout. While, DVDs (DVD9) well read at 14x to 4x as it gets to the second layer.

I dont care what games have to install if it helps them run/look better. I've got a 250GB HDD in my PS3. Lots of Southpark, Heroes, Rome, Dexter, The whole series of Neon Genesis, Pornand still plenty of room for game saves and installs.

However everytime I download a demo or video on my xbox I have to delete something. A 20GB (make that 13GB of actual space) HDD doesn't go very far.

1up says they look the same, the DEV TEAM THEMSELVES disgree and say they are the same. What system are they doing all their demo's on? The 360 version and you always put your best foot forward. The game isn't far from release and you know there will be a ton of comparisons we will get to the bottom of which one is better.

I am not in any of the stupid vgchartz fake/guess posts because there is no need to comment. They are made up numbers and even if it showed the POS3 winning by 10mil units I would not believe it and will not acknowledge anyone who uses their numbers to say their machine is winning. Japan for sure, US for sure but for everything else it's just made up and we have no idea who's winning in EU/Other. Show me some solid proof from a reputable tracking source and I will be more than happy to take a look. Also, the Falcon 360's are very quiet. Stop using material from 1.5 years ago for your arguements before I start talking about how the POS3 has no games.

The PS3's RAM is approx 4 or 5 times faster than the 360's RAM, it's more efficient with less latency, hell, it's even the best RAM out there, plus, PSM3 stated that the PS3 version is graphically on par with the 360 version and the frame rate is extremely smooth.

everything like better online and 50% more gameplay huh? oh and custom soundtracks. there is a reason the playstaionary needs the 5min instal and its blueray. so wait and see when the game is actually out, ther will be no difference minus the above and some minor differences in graffics(which could not be said to be better or worse) so ah grow up and keep you mouth shut until the game is out cause losers like you are wasting my time trying to find somthing interresting to read here.

Yes it's so clear that the employees "think" (and was even in quotes) it's better while the dev team disagrees. Sorry I will take the dev team over some non-named employee at R* anyday. You also seem to miss the whole point of the person mentioning playing them side by side and not noticing a difference.

you do realize the devs themselves would never say one version is superior to the other(cod4 looks better on the ps3 devs tried to downplay it) that would be suicide.
