I think what he mean't to say was. "Maximizes the potential we have to make a game for the PS3" Basically all they are saying with this "hand picked" quote is due to it not being multi plat they can focus on making a better game all around for the PS3 exclusive.... Not that they are tapping the full potential of the PS3...

Let me clarify a little by saying they can use the whole 25 gig's of blu ray or use HD space... Things like that are usuing the PS3's "Potential"

Also I believe it was mis quoted possibly to start a flame war the only quote I could find was "because we were only working on PS3 we were able to fully maximise the things that the PS3 does well." and "At the end of the day the 360 and the PS3 are both very capable pieces of hardware. Going with the PS3 enabled us to maximise the potential of that particular platform." Which are very different...

Very true, and your probably spot on. Reporting news on the internet has become more about getting hits than providing a service, I've noticed multiple articles when the author has twisted developer comments to write the story they wanted, infact some just completely embellish the truth just to get those hit's.

Unfortunately, Video gamer is one of the very few address's i cannot access from work, so ~I guess I'm partly to blame for casting aspersions from the caption alone.

The decision to make upcoming FPS Haze a PS3 exclusive has enabled it to "maximises the potential of the PS3", according to developer Free Radical Design.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com in an interview published elsewhere on the site, project lead Derek Littlewood said Free Radical's coders were "enjoying working with the PS3" and that "it's always nice to be able to focus on making one thing great rather than spreading your efforts".

Haze, which sees you control a soldier powered by an enhancing drug called Nectar, was originally announced as an Xbox 360, PS3 and PC game, but was subsequently made PS3 exclusive soon after.

Littlewood explained the decision: "At Free Radical we've always had a good history with PlayStation hardware. If you look all the way back to the European launch of the PS2, we had TimeSplitters coming out as a PS2 exclusive then. Ever since then we've always worked well with PlayStation hardware. And so when it came to Haze it was an obvious decision to make. Our coders were enjoying working with the PS3 and it seemed a good decision. As a developer it's always nice to be able to focus on making one thing great rather than spreading your efforts. So we were pleased to have the opportunity to focus purely on PS3."

When asked if the game might have ended up worse if it had come out on Xbox 360 and PC as well, Littlewood replied: "I think that's something of a leading question. There's things the 360 does well and there's things the PS3 does well. In Haze, because we were only working on PS3 we were able to fully maximise the things that the PS3 does well."

Littlewood, however, remained coy on exactly what he considers the things the PS3 does well to be, saying: "There's some things, like the permanent presence of the hard disc, which is a useful thing. I don't want to dive into some sort of platform war thing. At the end of the day the 360 and the PS3 are both very capable pieces of hardware. Going with the PS3 enabled us to maximise the potential of that particular platform."

Internet chatter has been rife that Haze will simply be a timed PS3 exclusive, and will come out on Xbox 360 at some point in the future. Littlewood, however, wouldn't be drawn when asked if 360-owners will ever get to play the game on their console, game could ever come out on, simply stating: "I can literally say nothing on that at all!"

Devs aren't maximizing the PS3 because they're holding back on games to possibly bring it to the 360 later. If you build a game from the ground up just for the PS3 putting it on the 360 proves to be rather impossible. I may actually pick Haze up now.

gotta love n4g. You know how MGS story couldn't have better thn gears in the title but look at this. Where are wageslave and the rest of the people who reported the title then?
Anyway, as far as i am concerned yea they maximized it according to THEIR ABILITY. In another interview, he also says ps3 has a lot of untapped power and they could have done a lot more with more time.

The lead developers from Rare that created Goldeneye broke off to form Free Radical. Haze WILL be a very good game, you can pretty much bet on that due to who is developing it alone.

They are pissed that it's PS3 exclusive so rather than seeing the game for what it is, a great game and a game with great potential, they see it as a threat. You can bet if it were a 360 exclusive, each of the negative comments would be positive and a bit more on the bragging side of things.

only xbox fanboys are complaining here..lol again! the 360 has some pretty damn good fps already. i would'nt think they're to jealous! anyway, i've seen plenty of sony fanboys saying that they are'nt to pumped for haze either. another fps added to the already growing list of fps on the ps3! there's not really much else available is there??

the 360 has the library of games now, including all the rpgs. losing one fps is'nt gonna make much difference! and after the abysmal timesplitters 1 and 2 (imo), the only thing that haze has for me is the four player co-op...especially as the game was designed with that in mind!

Maybe you should use that same logic with "S***" Fanboys. All to often they have bashed games that were 360 exclusives. If you call one group out make sure that the other group is not guilty of the same thing. You can't throw stones if you live in a glass house.

Hate to bust your bubble most of the complaints with graphics are from ps3 only users. Trying to take up for there console as the did with socom and now this. If you spend 400 to 700 dollars for a new console it should have next gen graphics and next gen gameplay thats why people buy them, Thats what i expect when i lay down that much money for a console if the gameplay is great thats all good but i feel graphics is part of gameplay. And most everyone on here bought there ps3 probably before they played one why? Cause of what they seen not of what they played.

in regards to your statement: no-one said Haze is going the be the best looking console game, they were merely stating that they like working with just one set of hardware rather than doing multi-platform development

still using Lair as an excuse is lame, games can flop- get over it, i dont see Fable being the game it was supposed to be

The air doesnt get any thinner than the air around the PS3 JRPG library.

Lots of tech demos and CGI clips and no gameplay footage but people still act as is FFMCXVII is the second coming.

Best take off those fanboy goggles blademask. I think their on a little too tight.

The best you can come up with is a slam on the JRPG line of games for the PS3? lol

I would wait years and take one Final Fantasy (and in this case FFXII) over all the drab and boring JRPG's on the 360 at the moment. Sorry, but no matter the platform, the best RPG out at the moment is Oblivion and that is multi-platform.

Besides, I'm too busy playing Crisis Core on the PSP to have any care about the lame library of JRPG's on the 360. lol

Sorry, but I think it’s just silly to refuse a game due to a mandatory install. Get a bigger HDD. Heck, I installed a 200gb HDD a couple weeks ago to the tune of 99 bucks. Can’t go wrong there if you ask me.
