Mark Rein "blown away" by 50 Cent

CVG writes: "We all wondered what the "fantastic" UE3 game was all about at Swordfish Studios, when Epic VP Mark Rein said he was "blown away" by an early preview last year. It turned out to be 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, and as it happens, game director Julian Widdows was well chuffed by the comments.

"When we heard he was coming we were like 'oh no, we're gonna get killed!' But he was over the moon, we're chuffed about it," Widdows told CVG in an interview.

'We're obviously an Unreal Engine 3 licensee and he just came in for a visit and said 'oh my god, I can't believe you're working on this, it looks phenomenal'. That was it; it wasn't anything particularly formal, he came in to say hello to his licensees and was blown away by it. That was great for us.'"

The fools seem to be the guys working on this game. Why would you want to? Most gamers will probably ignore it because of who is in the game. Do we really need another 50 Cent game?

I guess I'll at least wait and see how it turns out. If it's a great game in the end and gets all great reviews then it might be worth buying. It's definitely a wait and see though based on the subject. It will have to be amazing to win most gamers over.

Just because the first game sold a million copies doesn't mean it was good. It means a lot of people were fooled out of their money. It probably also means the game came out at a slow time of year. The middle of summer is a perfect time for games like that to come out. Not much else new to buy.

Bulletproof sells over a million units, is a little below average, but couldn't the same be said about Killzone? That game was touted to be something bigger than it turned out. Yet fans are willing to give K2 a second chance, how is that fair? Is it because he's a rapper? Someone who came from the bottom, and wants to keep making good with his life. Would you rather him in the hood doing bad, living bad, and being bad. I mean nobody has to care. If anything I'm encouraged by the fact that 50 cent wants this game to be better than his first game. Having more imput. I'm not saying this game is going to be a AAA title, but I'd rather not hate having no real basis to do so. People need to get off their arrogant high horse. The game industry isn't some exclusive club.

to the latest 1up podcast and they described the story a bit.

50 is giving a benefit concert to the troops in the Middle East

But they don't have any money to pay him so they give him a Crystal Skull.

Then I guess all hell breaks loose and then all the members of G-Unit are called in to help Fifty rid the Middle East of terrorist and protect the crystal skull.

I am not joking, this is the actual story. PUKE! Just disappear already 50 your 15min are up.

Of course Mark Rein will be blown away because it is one of his licensees. He does this with everything! Got a new POS3 title coming up, it is the best thing he's ever done. Got a new 360 title coming up, it is the best thing he's ever done.
