the protector? Probably the new name for eight days. I am really not interested in any NEW sony games until they actually start releasing the one's already promised. If the protector is eight days though then i am excited assuming it retains some of the gameplay from the old trailer.

As for gears they upgraded multiplayer from 4v4 to 5v5. Really didn't enjoy gears multiplayer that much so really don't care. However from what i played in the mp i would say large numbers don't matter.

Home beta in spring just like that sony pr guy said expect to hear more in spring. When does spring officially end by the way? I am excited for home on the front that it will help make the psn more of a community. Plus it is free which is really what matters to me.

i'm guessing the protector is the one the BBC reporters saw. Liverpool = England based. BBC = BRITISH broadcasting Channel... but yeah, i want to see them release some titles instead of just announcing new ones.

How could you not like Gears multiplayer. I played thru the game 2 times. The Multiplayer is the best part of the game. 4 vs 4 on gridlock the best. My favorite map was escalation. I would run my team like a swat squad and some of the best tatical moments in any game was on that map.

I was a fan of Gears. I hated its multiplayer at first, then I got a new roommate and he played it online despite my warnings and he became very addicted to it. Watching him play it all the time, I decided I'd try it again and had a blast. We'd switch off round after round for hours each night for like a month. Had a blast with it. Before we got into it online we had a blast with it in 2-player co-op. The single-player non-co-op experience is the most lacking aspect of the game, but even that was fun the first time through.

I really have reservations for Gears 2 though. It'll be toughto live up to the original for me. At the moment, I'm definitely most hyped up for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue & Metal Gear Solid 4. On the 360 end, I'm curious to see how Too Human turns out, and I'm pretty excited for Ninja Gaiden 2.

I'm intrigued to learn more about Sony Liverpool's game. If nobody here is aware (I'm sure you are, though), that studio is formerly Psygnosis. I loved them when they were Psygnosis, and they haven't let me down since Sony acquired them either.

P.S. - Who here thinks that after Wipeout HD they should focus on an HD Rollcage for PSN? That'd be sweet.

I think its little things like not being able to have a party. I hated when i wanted to play with a friend id have to wait till one of us joined and invite before it closed up. Shotgun annoyed the hell out of me. I think one of the reasons i dont like it is because i suck at it, thats most likely the major reason :( ...Multiplayer co-op was fun as hell though, it was fun playn through it on insane with a friend.

No host advantage please...id probably be better without it

64 player on CSS on the PC?

Theres also 32 player limit on PDZ on the 360, many games have have a limit of 60 players online before and will continue to do so. I'm looking forward to 60 player madness as much as the next guy but its not anything new. Gotta admit the 8 player co-op sounds sweet, 4 player co-op in Halo 3 was funny and great at the same time.

You're not impressed by numbers. Cool, we're all different, you're looking for a very solid gameplay foundation.

WHAT ARE YOU GONNA SAY -=*IF*=- Resistance 2 has that in spades as well? Really, what will be your argument then? Let's say you legitimately enjoy the game, despite it being on a console you despise made a company you loathe, what will you say then?

I'd love to know, but somehow I think you'd stick to the same attitude you've had for a couple years now, not even admitting whether you like it or not, just bash, bash, bash. Can't believe it's been that long, too. This place is a perpetual soap opera.

A lot of you naysayers conveniently like to forget that 60p online is only an option, not a requirement. I loved some 40p frag fests in Resistance, but it was always good to be able to play with 8, 16, 24, and 32 players as well. In the case of the MART, he's a hypocrite, because options is something he would never miss an opportunity to tout when it came to comparing features of his beloved system against another. The whole idea that Resistance 2 will suffer because of OPTIONAL 60p battles is ludicrous. The first one continues to disprove that even today.

This isn't to rag on Gears either, it's a fun game, and a lot of people fail to realize that the reason these two games play the way they do is because they were DESIGNED THAT WAY. Imagine that, games are designed to play a certain way...who would've imagined!?

Instead, everyone likes to shoehorn some console power argument whenever these two titles are mentioned in the same breath.

Some games just weren't made to have 60 people. I can tell you right now, if Gears had more than 10v10 it would just turn into a bunch of people frag tagging and chainsawing each other.

Numbers don't, and never will make a game better. Some games work with 60 people (Battlefield) some games work better with less people (halo/gears).

So to retort to your querry: what are you going to do when Gears comes out with 5v5 and is still more fun than resistance with 60 people?

If you would have every played GoW MP you would have noticed that 60 players would completly destroy the game (I used "would" 3 times :S). I beleive that 60 mp in r2 will be great but it's a diffrent genre (dispite both beeing a FPS). So pls let this time the rumour actually become true

@1.2 - Pure ignorance. The 360 is more than capable of having thousands of enemies on screen. Kameo was a launch title that had thousands of enemies on screen at once. People are playing Frontlines on the 360 right now with 50 vs 50 so the system is capable.

No details for Gears 2 have been announced yet you seem to know everything about the game. If R2 gives you more of everything but still sucks like the first one then you can have 1000 player matches and 50 storylines but that doesn't change anything..

I've played Gears of War online and I can't imagine a 12player match let alone 60. The map is small and imo Gears of War was built from the ground up to be played by small number of players online. Nonetheless, Gears of War is very fun online and chainsawing people never gets old. Gears of War 2 seem to stick with the formula hence only 5v5 online match and that's a good thing. Gears wasn't built to be played by an enormous amount of player like Resistance.

Not true. Hes not the first guy saying that over 10 players at once just wouldnt fit the multiplayer mode for Gears.

Thats why I dont post in the open zone, I am not one of those unreasonable fanboys. In fact I am very reasonable. Gears of War is one of the very few games that made me want to own a 360.
If it wasnt for RROD, I would be a 3 console owner.

But me? I like my consoles to work. I'll stick to the Wii and PS3.

People talking about this 60player online crap for Gears 2 have never even played the damn game.

The game is close quarter combat and not made for large matches. The tech demo showed hundreds of enemies on screen and I believe that will fit fine in the SP (with Troika gun please :) I've played some 50 player matches in Frontlines and it's fun but nowhere near much as it's being hyped up by the PS3 fanboys(what don't they hype up?)

Since everyone seems to be able to see into the future. Gears 2 will score better, sell more and look and play better than R2. Just like the first one handed RFOM it's azz on a plater, G2 will do the same.. Believe that!

The only reason Gears outsold Resistance was because Microsoft-d!ck hyped it to kingdom come and because it had great graphics.
Resistance had a storyline of over 15 hours and had way better and more fun weapons than Gears did. Gears was only 6 hours long and had a lag fest online mode with people who could never stop shouting and screaming.
The enemy AI in Resistance was very smart, they would always hide and jump out at you when you least expect it. They would take cover if they are losing to you and they would flank you with a grenade at times too. There is nothing to be said about Gears enemy AI because it was dumb as hell!
The boss fights in Gears were pathetic compared to the ones in Resistance.
The 20 vs 20 team deathmatch in Resistance was awesome as hell, just think how great 30 vs 30 will be in Resistance 2!
So you can have your Queers of Boredom 2 and its unbelievable, amazing, spectacular, un-real 5 vs 5 team deathmatch and 100 enemies on screen (Which was already done in Heavenly Sword) while I play 2 story mode campaigns with 12 new enemies, 8 player co-op and 60 players in a deathmatch in Resistance 2.

Let's not get carry away here. RFOM was a launch title so it was obviously a rush product but it was still a solid game nonetheless. Besides, Insomniac is not known for developing shooters, but the same thing can't be said about Epic Games. That alone is enough to guaranteed that Gears of War is better than RFOM.

Let's not forget that when Insomniac developed RFOM they were just getting to know the PS3 architecture. If you know compare R&C:FTOD with RFOM graphically then you will know what I'm talking about. Insomniac is now getting use to the PS3 architecture and will be unlocking more of the PS3 potential along the way during RFOM 2 development. This battle will not be the same as GeOW vs RFOM.

No doubt GeOW 2 will sell better but sale figure's don't make a good game. Just look at Kane and Lynch and hell even 50cent sold over a million copies but are they good games? You decide. As far as rating goes some sites can be biased and should not be trusted. At the end its up to YOU to decide which game is better.

resistance 2 should be awesome, can't wait, for gears online, its ok, but just not my cup of tea, it seems to cramped and pretty linear to where you can go on the maps, they always usually go in a straight path to each other so no real tactics, just wait behind a wall and watch them run by and just chainsaw them.
or when you know where the best weapons are, then everybody is just racing to get it, and then it pretty much over when they get it.
well this game is just not my cup of tea, not saying its a bad game i just dont a liking to, others will disagree, but then again that is your opinion as well, all that matter is if you have fun, so enjoy

It makes you more likely to try and not be the weakest link on the team. With 60 players you can suck and no one would probably notice. Since UT3 runs on the same engine, then saying that gears mp couldn't have more people is just ignorant flame bait. Developers made a choice to better the game, i doubt they received a single email asking for 60 player mp.
