Thats just stupid. That means it will be delayed almost a year when it had a release date of November(I think it was). Its a PSN title, what is the hold up?

I want Socom more than any other game coming to the PS3, besides maybe FF. This is a really douchebaggy move. Its like they had the game done last year, through the whole thing away and started all over again. This is BS.

KILLZONE COME OUT IN DECMEBER OR 2009 NO ROOM GET OUT!

Edit: Shyt this is not good I think 2 big shooters can co exist but 3 now thats A PROBLEM! Killzone is not coming out this year I repeat is not coming out this year heard it from me first Sony dont have the ballz to put there shooters up against each other to compete for sales. Also I think this game was delayed so long to get the online community up like the article said the stat tracking online with clans and all that also I think they planned on some home integration. I think that Sony gave them a little bit more time to polish the game while they made sure that everything was in order. I mean its only online they should have more than just play like warhawk did even though warkhawk is really fun.

well it is suppose to have fully destructible maps so maybe it wouldn't hurt them by having extra time but i still don't see why they would want to pack all the games late into the year.

i know most of my playing time will be tied up between MGS4 and GTA4 but i still wanted to get my hands on this earlier in the year. it will be my first SOCOM game on a home console (my very first was on PSP) and i'm looking forward to it. i wanna really learn how to play correctly and give it alot of attention but cramming everything together will make it rough.

still kinda sad that it's being released at that late but hey it works.

Infamous is still pegged with a summer 2008 release, so it should be interesting. and Gamers day is coming in may so i think Sony summer block busters are Gonna start with Haze, then MGS4 and MGO, Wipeout HD, Infamous, Coded Arms: Assault. and some unannounced titles. then the fall is just jam packed with releases

white knight story, 8-day (or what ever the new name is)
KZ2, LBP, Socom, Resistance2, motorstorm:Pacifica and a slew of high profile mul;tiplat releases

both halo 3 and bioshock co-existed pretty well that is until call of duty 4 arrived. but yeah if MS was able to do it with those two ips why cant sony? all they have to do is make sure that they properly advertise both properties well.

heck i mean if you want you can well add socom:confrontation to this list as this game is set for a September release as well.

in the end sony can be doing this to simply pile it on its competition heading into Christmas season which is exactly what MS did in 07, only the difference this time is sony has actually more than just a few handful of shooters they also have littlebigplanet and motorstorm 2 to serve up until 09 pops in god of war 3 and heavy rain and other exclusives such as wardevil and geteaway 3 final fantasy 13 and many more.

who knows other games like the agency and 8 days might also make the fall this year, you can also add tekken 6, infamous and white knight chronicles, Valkrya and Yakuza 3 to that list as well.

my personal opinion of this is simple, sony don't worry about a thing and just go ahead and pour it on like the patriots did in the nfl.

and just watch how all the analysts will start hopping on the bandwagon and i wouldn't be surprise if some hardcore 360 gamers do so as well, despite gears of wars 2 and alan wake arriving. bank on it there is just too much ips coming from sony and partners this fall. oh and i almost forgot Ncsoft is set to start releasing their properties on the ps3 this fall as well. so..... yeah.

also watch out for multi-plats like RE5 and COD5 to play somewhat of a big role this Christmas as well.

but come to think of it.....well i think of it like this, resistance is more like halo in which they are both targeting community and fun online mechanics more so than graphics.

while killzone 2 might end up being like bioshock in an artistic way, think scenery and killer graphics to drive that vision.

or killzone 2 might end up being more like a gears of war experience with all its darkness and graphics. not to mention the guy in charge of the game was once cliff b's partners in the early days of their careers, and was quoted at e3 by cliff b as magneto while cliff b consider himself xavier.

now when you come to think about it, just looking at gears and than looking at killzone 2 they are both dark and grittier, as if they both have the same way of thinking when it comes to games. man i have to find this quote i know it was in an interview on cliff b, it was after e3 of last year.

but anyways Socom:confrontation will also be around for a September release just in case people start to daze off just remember.

The Call of Duty 4 effect strikes again. Socom had to step up after CoD4 was released. Add to that the conflicting game releases and you have one Frustrated gamer in me. I have been Waiting for this (like some of you too). Oh well, back to Hot Shots golf.

i think some of you guys have to understand that not everybody has the same tastes.

for example, the same gamer that will go Ga-Ga over Gran Turismo 5 Prologue next month may not be the same gamer that's going Ga-Ga over MGS4 in June, or Little Big Planet.

just because quite a few of us hardcore gamers have a wider range of tastes in games and genres, doesn't mean everybody does.

some people are looking forward to Killzone 2 more than SOCOM. some people are looking forward to the complete opposite.

some people are looking forward to Little Big Planet more than Metal Gear Solid 4. some people are looking forward to the complete opposite.

the games will appeal to their markets, and for those few that are excited about *ALL of them will find a way to get them.

personally, i've never been a big SOCOM fan. i used to have the first one, but i got into it too late, and was getting owned by the elites so hard that i gave up.

i'm not really looking forward to SOCOM, September launch or not.

i *AM, however, looking forward to Killzone 2, and especially Resistance 2.

i'm not looking forward to Motorstorm 2, but i *AM looking forward to Little Big Planet.

the fact that most of those games listed above are hitting rather close to one another doesn't hurt me.

now, if MGS4, Infamous, LBP, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and White Knight Story *ALL hit in the same month, i'd have a problem.

Sony isn't cannibalizing anything, they are simply offering more choice per month for their fanbase. the Playstation fanbase is bigger and broader than any of the other two consoles, with maybe Nintendo coming in second. the number of successful titles on the PS1 and PS2 that are multi-genre attest to the fact that Playstation consoles tend to appeal to a wide spectrum of gamer and gamer tastes.

if Sony releases Singstar and Gran Turismo 5 in the same month, do you think the sales will cannibalize one another? of course not, because the two series tend to appeal to two totally different markets, and if their is overlap, the fans of both series will find the way to own both.

personally, i can swing about two or three games a month. time wise, i probably wouldn't be able to beat those three games in a month, so i tend to pace myself anyway, and spread out my game purchases.

i've been considering getting GT5 prologue next month, simply because i have the Japanese demo, and it looks stunning on my HDTV. i wouldn't mind playing around with it in English, though. however, GTAIV releases next month too, and that's high on my list, and i'm definitely picking it up on launch day.

there are numerous people out there that would call me crazy, and are more excited about Gran Turismo 5 Prologue than GTAIV.

different strokes for different folks, but i don't see any cannibalization here.

cannibalization would be if Sony released Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 on the *SAME DAY. they are both anticipated FPS titles, and gamers who can't get both may have some hard choices to make.

Killzone 2 and LBP are rumored to be coming out in September. i can swing both of them.

if i were a SOCOM fan, i'd find a way to get that one also. most of the time, we will find a way to get the games we want.

the more choices of quality title, the better for us gamers, and Sony, as a whole, considering how people, even NOW, say the PS3 "has no games." (i was visiting my roommate today at Gamestop, and he had a conversation with a customer who was still saying that the PS3 had no good games. after my roommated pointed at the wall and listed over a dozen quality games on the PS3, the guy acquiesced; he was outright wrong. he even said that he had never seen a PS3 game in action, so he was, basically, basing his opinion off of hearsay, and not hands on experience)

well the game so far had been criticize for its ps2 like resembles in the graphics department my guess is that were going to get MGS4 like graphics if not something along the lines of uncharted for this game. also there are probably still some major things that got to be tweaked here and there and they might be also planning on a beta, plus since,haze,home and mGS4 and even possibly wipeout HD are all hitting the summer so.. my guess is that sony wants to give those ips the spotlight instead.

also this game is going to have 7 maps not 5.

SOCOMUpdate writes: You can no longer set up a match exactly defined to your teams exact strengths and create a honeypot to raise your clan ranking. For you clan to have a global ranking you now have to be a rounded team with good strategies for dealing with all the maps. Now , you can build all the custom games you want - the room system is still there, which i know is really important to socom fans. you can do all your clan tryouts and training in those rooms. and even playing within those games aggregates different stats, because we track a lot of information about the player, but it doesn’t directly go into the global clan ladder” (NO RANK UP)

* Crossroads (ps3) has an extra outer ring that the ps2 didn’t have. There are two towers now.

* Confrontation is 32 players but you can make smaller maps for 16 players total.

* Tilt with the sixaxis can be tweaked for sensitivity

* There will be 7 maps total at launch. All maps will be based in North Africa

* There are exploding barrels and cars.

* There is an underground map that has a collapse part triggered by the enemy

* View distance is big, so no more fog like SOCOM 2

* Clan support will be available on socom.com where the leader can change their clan, add players etc.
* Audio has changed. Sounds around a corner sound muffled.
* Oh! there is now a run/sprint mode. You can run/sprint but you cant shoot and your gun will not be accurate after running. So basically just use this too avoid snipers.

* Ranked matches are automated, if you wanna set up your own room with specifics (no grenades, etc) it wont be ranked. This stops cheaters and rank ups.

* Your clan can talk via open chat, but you can L2 to chat to everyone on your team. Or if you have proximity chat then you chat with who ever is around you.They are planning on having a new headset for socom. The printing of EGM sucks so screenshots dont look sharp or nice colors. I would wait for screenshots on your computer to judge.
o They are bringing back a new game mode. “elimination ” its like socom 2. kill the whole other team or take a draw

Thanks for the update, glad to see theres gonna be 7 maps at release. I don't think SOCOM fans are going to be all that worried about R:FoM or Killzone 2........Whenever you talk to the hard core Socom fans they always say "are there any other games, I don't think so"
